Iles pre-match Q&A:
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/1 ... live-blog/
• Have any more players handed their notice in?
"As best I can tell - nobody else who is contracted beyond the summer."
• What is your take on Bassini's claim he has control of the club? If someone claimed to be in charge of your own business would you not put out a statement very quickly to totally deny it?
"The confusion was corrected with an internal staff message. But I believe Bassini made a legal challenge preventing another statement. On Friday I had staff phoning me and asking who their boss was... THAT is how bad things got. Laurence Bassini's claim to the club can only legally take effect when the EFL grant him permission. If he manages to get that done, then fine. We move on."
• am I wrong in thinking the future of #bwfc is with the @EFL now? If they agree Bassini has funds, it's his club.
"In a way. They reiterated their role the other day - and it was a rather passive aggressive way of saying they had not yet received what they wanted from Bassini. If they pass it Tuesday, then it's full steam ahead."
• What happens with Bassini’s claim if Davies family put us in admin Tuesday? Can he still claim to own club, can he buy us in admin, can he go legal with his ‘agreement’ , or is that the end of him?
"A good question - and one for the administrator, if it happens. Only a hunch, but I fear this will end up in a courtroom."

Iles: "Had a call from Laurence Bassini, who has confirmed he will not be here today. Bassini said he had been made aware that Forest would not allow him into the directors' box and did not want to cause issues. But it sounds as if he is still very much in the market to buy Bolton Wanderers."Jim_McDonuts wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 12:27 pmJeez, we need the EFL to fail him.

Jeez. I thought we'd at least gotten rid of one fxcking tit!!!
Tell you what, Beezelbub, instead of just infesting us with Anderson and Parkinson, why don't you add Bassini into the mix?

So it seems Bassini’s plan was to sell the ground and hotel to David Sullivan for £12.5m and rent it back.
Christ.

Re: Red Hats and One-eyed Snakes - the ups and downs of new management.
I don't get the reporting on this at all:
1.) David Sullivan owns 51% of West Ham. EFL rules state that an owner cannot own more than 10% in two clubs. Surely £12.5m represents more than 10% of BWFC?
2.) £12.5m might cover the forthcoming season's losses. What would cover the purchase of the club and the paying off of creditors, plus future seasons losses?
3.) Bassini, who is reported to have given up on BWFC and is focusing on another club, hasn't proven he can afford a packet of bacon wheat crunchies. It feels like a ponzi scheme. Associate Bassini with a club. Throw around a name or two to give it a modicum of credibility. Nixon and Jim White amplify. Clicks/downloads/advertising. Free tickets/publicity. Ensure bid fails. Rinse and repeat.

On point 1. Let's start with owning a hotel, shall we? Do you think the EFL give one monkey's iota about shares in booking.com??? (The same with owning a pitch: a football club might own a pitch, but a pitch rarely owns a football club).
On point 2, we still await to see whether Shazza or whoever can perform that miracle trick.
Point 3 isn't even a point.
...and all the above from somebody from day one who posted that Bassini was a wanker (just check out who the OP of this very thread was).

Re: Red Hats and One-eyed Snakes - the ups and downs of new management.
Agreed - none of that has Sullivan owning another football club. Owning a ground/stadium/hotel isn't the same thing. Nothing said he'd have been taking any ownership of the Club.
I don't think there is a major problem with a ground not being owned by the Club, in the sense that City don't own theirs, nor do West Ham (I don't think). But as most EDT's security was against the ground, they might have taken the view that they'd prefer an owner that didn't flog that asset if at all possible. If they'd wanted that to occur they could've potentially let Anderson sell it to pay them off and hopefully make some extra buttons to keep the Club running...They could've looked to have sold it off themselves, prior to ED withdrawing his money, so wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have a hand in it somewhere along the line.

It's the Next Big Freak Out. Sheffield Wednesday selling their ground to themselves in a potted format to merely rent it back off themselves for a profit... Win, win, win until Lose becomes inevitable (a bit like Tsipras and Greece).Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 5:02 pmAgreed - none of that has Sullivan owning another football club. But, it isn't illegal. And it's certainly not immoral.

Edit: Out of preference, you'd want to own your ground then you're not paying rent on it. (which given you haven't got enough to run the Club, would make what you do have from selling it, run out quicker)...

Oh I musta missed this bit - where did EFL and FL say it was illegal? (they might be entitled to their own view on the immoral, but the former doesn't sound at all right)Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 5:19 pmYes, the EFLWorthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 5:18 pmHad someone suggested it was?Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 5:16 pmBut, it isn't illegal. To me it's senseless. But the entire financial balancing act of the football league is senseless. If my club is going to go under, I'd at least hope it went under after exploring all the possibilities open to it, including having s Dickhead borrow money off a Scrooge to buy an asset to rent it back to the Dickhead.

You're twisting it. They're pushing for it to be made illegal, on the basis of it being immoral.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 5:22 pmOh I musta missed this bit - where did EFL and FL say it was illegal? Presently it is neither. Which is what I said.
So when you ask "has someone suggested it was" - the answer is yes.
Or are you telling me that the EFL aren't trying to "close this loophole"?

Oh I don't know whether they are or they aren't, I thought you were saying the EFL/FA had said it was illegal. Re: Red Hats and One-eyed Snakes - the ups and downs of new management.
Are they saying it's immoral? I can see how they might think so in the odd case, in the sense that rich clubs "buying" their own grounds for an inflated sum then paying peppercorn rent could be an "immoral" way of getting around FFP.
I would've thought their broader position was that it was more "inadvisable" than immoral, and so to try to avoid more Coventry-esque situations they want to stop it. Seems like a fairly sensible policy position to me.
It's be interested to know if there were examples of clubs where selling the ground actually helped dig them out rather than postponing the inevitable. It always seems to buy a bit more time before things go tits up at which one any club in administration or worse is in the position where it doesn't own is ground. Don't know if there are examples of: sell ground> recover> buy ground back. Possible there are some.
