Red Hats and One-eyed Snakes - the ups and downs of new management.

Bassini then.
I'll give it fourteen months before tears at bedtime.

In Edward de Bono's group-discussion method "Six Thinking Hats", the red hat represents a gut reaction or emotional statement, honest and visceral if often unjustified.

Other meanings of red-hat include people who habitually shout down new ideas, unswervable supporters of Donald Trump, and Catholic cardinals. And, in some areas, a prostitute ("red hat and no knickers.") Remains to be seen which, if any, of these our new man most resembles.

I hope Bassini is better than we expect. I hope he's better than Anderson. The latter is a low bar.

The alternative was increasingly looking like oblivion. Time will tell whether it's a temporary reprieve or not.

For now though - 'welcome' "One Laurence Bassini, there's only one Laurence Bassini.."

Nixon with some details.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football ... -anderson/
The total bill at the High Court [HMRC, Macron, etc] is estimated at around £3m just now and there is the option for others owed money to 'piggy back' before then.

Bassini will also have to fund the wages of players for May, June and July with just two home games to raise funds in that period. Several of the squad that faces relegation in the Championship are out of contract this summer, but Bolton have to honour their deals for a further three months - costing around £2.5m....

...[including the £6m owed to Michael James] Bassini will face a bill of around £10.5m in the next few weeks even if the "nominal sum" paid to Anderson for his shares may have been as low as £100,000.

Anderson had been seeking an "owner's premium" of around £4m when other buyers tried to take over. But that has apparently been dropped.

You won't see me posting on this thread until he's formally confirmed by the EFL.

This guy frightens the life out of me - but (as with Southampton post Ken) Watford are in a much better position now. It sounds as if it is by luck, but we can only hope for that stability.

He gets my backing as did Ken.

Hope he picks a good manager.

Six years ago? Surely time to look onward and upwards. We've been looking over our shoulders long enough surely?

His most recent involvement in football and a very thorough article, worth a read I think. I’m not saying anything further.

Sounds like Dave Richards is on board as well. Ex Sheff Weds /FA. Another unpleasant google. I’m really, really struggling!

We can't say we support a boring club lol.

If this happens I am expecting terrible decisions and comments going forward, a proper clown show, but if there is genuine money (likely to come through Richards if at all), then the club might be in a better position to be sold to sensible people later on.

The worst situation is if the debts still remain, and this is just a vehicle for Ken to get out with his erm possible alleged gains that may or may not have occurred, and we are back in the courts later in the summer.

(From the Watford Observer) Mr Bassini claimed he had arranged for due diligence to be completed before he purchased Watford in 2011 but accepted that he had not used accountants to perform any checks upon the club’s finances and confirmed he was not an accountant himself.

Really? Blimey! I hope that he has improved his education. That statement has both my knees quivering - and they are not too steady at the best of times. Kettle/black, frying pan/fire? Ah well, fingers crossed.

He’s already been interviewed on SSN about our take over and says he hasn’t been able to conduct full due diligence. Doesn’t sound like he has learned much!

I completely, utterly understand what the Watford fans say, and I thank them for warning us. What they don't seem to quite be getting is just how near to the wire we are. Reports (not from Bassini) are that Ken wanted to put us into admin yesterday.

I don't know what new daddy's like but I know I'm glad old daddy's leaving.

If form was running true, Ken would be thinking only of Ken whatever the rest....Buy a club for a pound, run it down to poverty, leave players and staff unpaid then walk away with a few mil? I hear a cackling Punch and Judy voice saying "That's the way to do it!"

So... Is Baz the red hatted one eyed snake confirmed as owner yet? Or do the EFL have yet to perform the dance of approbation?
