Marc Iles spouting that he may be giving 14 day notice as he haven't been paid.

If so then off you go you poor man's Charlie Bucket.

I've forgotten the names of the players who we signed - but in recent times Wanderers have exploited other clubs financial issues by buying players on the cheap - looks like a few clubs will be seeing our situation as karma

He signed a new contract so it won't be for the 250K that's being punted about. I'd hope and expect 7 figures with multiple clauses!

I might be wrong but I believe we activated a 12-month extension to his scholarship contract, which isn't quite the same thing as him signing a new contract with us.

Have we? I'll confess to not remembering us having done that but it does go on.

Funnily enough the clearest example I can think of is Bury fleecing Barnet many years ago. They had a striker, Mark Carter, who was worth around 300-400k in that days market. Bury offered 5k (!) & the administrator (I forget the details of why Barnet were over a barrel) had to accept it. Carter duly scored a shed load for the Shakers thereafter.

Even if he's walked through non payment of wages, we'd still be entitled to his training fee though surely? I have read that that fee is reduced though when the young player moves 'abroad'.

My understanding is that the "training" club will always be due training compensation for any youngster under the age of 24 unless the club chooses not to extend a scholarship contract/offer a new professional contract. But I don't know if that still applies when a player hands in their notice having not been paid. There haven't been any reports that Connell has done that, though, so we should be alright. And in any event, Iles is suggesting that we won't just have to accept training compensation or a tribunal fee.

Hayden White -- from Sheffield Wednesday springs to mind..... I'm sure I will be able to remember a few others given a bit of time

Hayden White and Gregg Wylde?

We've already had our karmic payback then!

Not sure that's correct if he tears up his Contract for breach... He'd be a legit free agent.

I think I've conflated "compensation" for a player under the age of 24 and "training compensation" under EPPP in my posts above. I don't know, but I would expect that even in breach of contract we would be entitled to "training compensation" because the "training" has been provided.

Maybe two matchboxes.

(or, more seriously, training compensation)

But then again, if he moves to Celtic it wouldn't apply. He hasn't torn his contract up, though, and I expect he might actually have been paid so I think we're worrying over nothing.

Not necessarily, if he moves to a club in England (in my opinion).

No. We'll definitely be entitled to Lennon's pubes.

I believe LE already has some of Lennon’s. Don’t think they’re in a matchbox though! 🤮
