Is it rude of me to get the ball rolling by suggesting Zach Clough as a potential/viable target?

Iles: “All go on the recruitment front - albeit space will be left for a new manager to make his own signings. Looks like they are trying for four new names on Saturday's team-sheet. No absolute guarantees they get them all, though.“

4 means 2. And 1 will be Hobbs. Need a centre forward. Rest slots in after that.

Striker, centre back but also wingers. Very few attempts on goal so far this season.

Oh god yeah. Striker is absolute nails. But we need winners too. They look more likely.

This, a striker is an absolute priority but we do need players with a hard working, winning mentality which is why getting the right manager in is important.

Please forgive my ignorance, I have spent a lifetime saying that, but if the window "slams" shut on Monday am I correct in saying we can sign loanees up to that point. Once Monday has been and gone we can still sign unattached players, is there a cutoff point then for signing the latter

That is correct. Unattached players can be signed up until March I believe.

There used to be a November cut off before Jan and then March. Not sure if that's still the case.

Only counts for people who are already free agents when the window closes too, I think

Thank you both for your replies, I was trying to figure out if the new manager when he arrives will have wiggle room to make signings as it is a certainty that the window will be closed.

Yes he can sign free transfers. I guess the timing of this will mean we won't be signing any players on loan - which seems a missed opportunity but also understandable given the circumstances.

I wouldn’t rule out loan signings. It would seem daft not to take the chance before it leaves.

Question is who’s making decisions like which player to sign. I would expect short-term contracts for free transfers - six months, one year, two years max - if the latter hopefully with relegation wage drop clause. Loanees - if we get offered a good youngster (ie more 21 than 16) on favourable terms we would be daft to turn it down. Not exactly swimming in selection options.

Deadline for loan signings is Monday. We're looking at having a new manager by end of next week. I'm not sure how we'll do loan deals - given the situation and timeframe. But we'll see.

Jimmy Phillips has confirmed Jack Hobbs paperwork has been sent to the EFL so is likely to be involved tomorrow.

3 others pending doesn't want to get hopes up as they were negotiating yesterday.

Is it only me that's surprised Hobbs hung around so long? And wasn't snapped up elsewhere? I was shocked when - think it was Dibble - mentioned his name a few weeks back. I'd forgotten all about him!

You'd think our highly paid consultant would have a long list, some of which haven't yet gone elsewhere.
As for timing, I'm sure the new manager would rather have a load of someone else's senior signings rather than wait til Jan with a bunch of kids!
