He's shit hot...…..
Right - genuine problem - I don't know if that's a curry based joke or Enfield inside knowledge?
The former. Although my mate who watches Enfield Town avidly says he's a proper talent, just needs the right stage.
Lads 6 foot 5, fast and knows where the net is. He has decent attributes - let’s hope he can make the step (jump) up!

Iles: "Centre-halves still being sought at bwfc - and evidently a lot of calls out. Pretty sure they will have at least one sorted by the weekend."

Not a lot visibly happening today, and not just because TW was down (always a worry, thanks for sorting it).

Ipswich site TWTD is saying Nsiala might be a loan-to-buy job. Not sure why we'd use one of our remaining loan slots, unless there's a fiscal reason – namely that Ipswich would still pay some of his wages but be happy to cut their losses; however, it looks like Nsiala, who was valued at £750,000 in the £2m double-deal with Jon Nolan from Shrewsbury 18 months ago, still has 18 months on his contract.

As Iles notes, deals can be struck - Daryl and Emmanuel were among those contracted elsewhere but released to join us. But we'll see.

Can only be a loan surely? We can't pay a fee and are limited on wages to £2K per week. So someone would have to pay off the rest (and presumably its a sizeable chunk). Ipswich won't - why would they? So a loan makes sense - where the commitment is minimised on both sides. Then in the summer Ipswich can try hawking him around again to see if they can get a better deal than we're able to offer. Only way I can see him joining otherwise is if he the player agrees to forgo the rest of his Ipswich contract - and take the wages hit.

So why didn't Ipswich make us loan Josh Emmanuel?

I mean, I agree that a loan is more likely but we'll see.

Maybe Ipswich are looking to get fringe players off the wage bill? Or players with no first team future? :conf:
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

I imagine that his wages were far closer to what we could offer. And he only had a year left.

I wouldn't get out of bed for £2K a week. Much less move to Sunderland!

I remember Nsiala from the Shrewsbury team of 2 years ago. He is powerful and attacks everything, and against decent, pacy forwards is a penalty against waiting to happen. A lot more of those in the Champ than L1 so on that basis it might be a good signing. He and Zouma would be an entertaining and chaotic CB pairing...

Not sure this looks like a well formulated plan to me. More scrabbling around for anything we can get.

When you're under an embargo offering under £2000 a week - that's exactly what it is and always will be. I guess the difficulty is that we'd have to have comitted on Earl/Wright and doing so would have limited scope to add new ones. But it does look risky - however, we'll end up with someone eventually and then we'll see if it has paid off. I personally think Wright was ok and I'll be surprised if we end up with a significant upgrade on him. For me our big weakness is midfield. Especially without Bridcutt as the shield in there.

We don’t appear to have made an formal announcement re bridcutt - presumably still trying to get him back.

Agree with you re Wright - I think he struggled with the Christmas schedule hence looking leggy re Burton (with no midfield in front, and down to 10
2 games on the bounce).

I must admit I am surprised we jettisoned Earl.

He seemed decent at both CB and LB, which given the limitations imposed on our squad size seems even more valuable...

Apparently Chicksen's contract elapses on Sunday so he's in for the match we've not yet got a thread for...

Also, LoV points out that young George Thomason (the midfielder signed from non-league, not the United loanee) is not in the U23 squad for this afternoon's game - could he be in the seniors for tomorrow?

Given lack of midfield options could well imagine him on the bench. Be surprised if he's chucked straight in.

Mind given we have no senior centre halves I don't suspect we're getting much out of tomorrow's game.

Not really sure why we wouldn't re-sign Chicksen.
