Planned Website Downtime - Complete

Post by DJBlu » Thu Aug 29, 2019 12:28 pm

Hi guys,

Just a heads up.

The website will be unavailable between

Saturday 31/08/2019 @ 9pm to Sunday 01/09/2019 - 6am.

It may be back before this time, just fixing an error that has been bugging me for over 12 months.

When did a photo of the Lord of the Manor of Farnworth appear at the top of the Forum pages? Has he been there years, or is he recent?

Just this week, probably after EDT wrote off even more money to keep the club going. Justified.

Wasn't complaining, merely wondering why the hell I'd never noticed it before. The short answer being because it wasn't there before... :D

It's a recent change.

I didn't force the image to update so will do over time for everyone.

I did it as a mark of respect for everything he and his family have done for the club.

Since the down time I can only log into the site via a Google search. How come? I assume it's something to do with cookies and stuff but since I don't understand all that, an explanation for an IT numpty would be much appreciated :)

I don't think the planned downtime went ahead, did it? I lost it from my favourites last weekend, did a google search and bookmarked it again. Simples!

Have you turned it off and back on again? :D

Might be worth deleting your bookmark and doing a new one as already suggested. Shouldn't be a cookie problem, but deleting them and browsing history is rarely a bad thing. Especially the browsing history

I haven't done anything yet.

try pressing Ctrl + F5 after deleting your cookies.

Once people see the /boards/ disappear from the url that's when it'll be done.

Have you tried switching it off and on again HG?

Job done.

Please update any links.

The forum is now accessible via https://the-wanderer.co.uk

no need for the /boards/ anymore.

I've left a redirect in there for those that have left an old link.

Website is back.

I'll stop dicking around with it now. Will tinker with it in the wee hours.
