Going back to my Roots - Southend (A), 21/03/20, 3:00pm

Post by TonyDomingos » Sat Mar 21, 2020 9:23 am

In a parallel universe, I'm tucking into a full English before meeting Enoch at Liverpool Street station for a day out at the seaside.

We'll sink a couple of pre-match pints in a pub opposite The Kursaal. My round as usual.

Arrive at Roots Hall 5 minutes after kick off, but in time to see Politic volley in from the edge of the box.

10 minutes later, we're in complete control as Chris O'Grady adds a second following a fine pass from Bunney making his first start.

Enoch, giddy on this footballing feast, offers to buy the half time drinks and sprints off to the bar in stoppage time. Unfortunately for him, that's when Politic pops up unmarked in the box to slam in his second and our third. That half time pint tastes like nectar.

Anyone care to takeover for the second half?

Who'd have guessed a bus pass isn't acceptable.

We've just been knocked out of the FIFA thing. Lost 4-1 to Standard Liege. Harry Brockbank was on the controls.

Worlds gone mad. Imagine interviewing someone for a job and seeing 2018-20, professional FIFA player on the CV!

Did he have to play as us? That's surely unfair!

There are fellas in Manchester being paid £1m a month to kick a pig's bladder up and down a strip of grass for 90 minutes. I'm not even joking.

Just now it's £1m a month to sit on their butts.

If we're counting watching remotely, I think the largest football crowd might be a *touch* over 200k.
