Bradford fans saying that he's signing or has signed for them ?
He used to play for Bradford, under McCall, but it sounds like a decision is expected today.

Had this decision been made in July I'd be more confident of us winning. So it goes. If he comes, we cheer; if he doesn't, we shrug (and boo when he plays us).

I had a quick look on Bradford's forum and it sounds like he doesn't have much love for their fans, for some reason. Whether that would play into his decision, who knows.

Anyway, he sounds like the kind of player who would improve our squad so I'd be pleased to see him come in. It would make you worry for Darcy's immediate future, though.

GARETH Evans is not a player on Bolton Wanderers’ radar, according to boss Ian Evatt. (BEN)

So there you go.

Apparently Bratfurt fans were calling him a paedo...

Anyway, thus spake Evatt:
He’s a player I’m aware of, however in the midfield area we've got Sarce when he gets back fit, we’ve obviously got Ronan Darcy, Tutty, Brandon Comley, Whitey and Ali Crawford at the moment and that’s not an area we need to strengthen.

It’s more the top end of the pitch where we’re looking to strengthen. We’re looking to hopefully bring a couple in. We’re light at the top half of the pitch so we’re looking to do some business in that area to give us some competition.

Loan striker/winger the most likely option then?

I wonder how high up the ladder we'll be able to go in search of loanees. I would guess that the style of football IE is looking to play would positively dispose some of the bigger clubs to lending us their youngsters.

We have rightly decided Zouma is too similar to what we have as well. Shame as we may well have kept him and not signed a Greenidge or Santos - badly advised there Youn lad, good luck...

As Bruce has pointed out it sounds like Evans was never a target for Evatt - he (Evatt) says that we are after a couple of forward / attacking players.

A few rumours that apparently we are close to signing Lloyd Isgrove - a winger I think.

Left-winger or left forward in a 4-2-3-1. Could also cut in from the right but we've got more options there.

Promoted last season with Swindon and in 2016 from L1 with Barnsley, so he ticks Evatt's "proven winner" box - he does seem to like lads who've been promoted before. He played 29 times for Swindon last season - five assists, no goals - but only ever signed a one-year contact, after a successful trial.

Started in Southampton's kids and last season is the first he'd spent as low as this level: he's made 37 third-tier appearances, 24 Champo and one Prem. He's 27 so neither kid nor granddad.

Seems to have been offered terms by Swindon but didn't take them so Wellens pulled the plug:
I think Isgrove has passed us by now, I think that’s gone. I’m gutted for him to be honest, but he took so long in accepting the deal.

He is a great kid, he was a great part of the dressing room last season and I think you saw for the first three or four months of last season what a talent he can be. It’s a shame the injury away at Crawley interrupted his season, but then he came back and he was just getting into real top form in training just as the season ended.

I think it’s time now to wish Lloyd Isgrove all the best and I’ll look out for his career because he’s a great kid.
Bad agent advice again? He's had a very stop-start career - didn't leave Southampton until he was 24; at one point he went on loan to Pompey (a questionable move for a "scummer") but didn't make a single appearance; and now this curious exit from Swindon.

28 year old, former Macclesfield Town front man. Bagged four goals for them last season. Think he can also play in the no.10 role or on the wing.

Happy with these additions to boost our attacking firepower but I still can’t help feel we’re severely lacking in quality at the back.

Wait who what in the where why? :D

Arthur Gnahaoua: Just turned 28. 5ft11. Born in London of French/Ivorian heritage. Played for Stalybridge, Macc, Colwyn Bay on loan, then Kidderminster; scored 16 in 51 sixth-tier games, helping them to the 2016/17 National League North (Division Six) playoffs and earned himself a move to Shrewsbury; despite scoring a 94th-minute winner at Donny (ho ho, bet you wish you'd had that game postponed you moaning gets) it didn't work out there, or at Carlisle, so last August he ended up back at Macc where he was presumably known to Tobias Phoenix.

League One - 12 apps (4 starts, 3 subbed off, 8 subbed on), 1 goal, 2 assists. 344 minutes played, 344 minutes per goal.
League Two - 30 apps (26 starts, 13 subbed off, 4 subbed on), 4 goals, 1 assist. 2,277 minutes played, 569 minutes per goal.
National League - 57 apps (41 starts, 14 subbed off, 16 subbed on), 9 goals, 3 assists. 3,717 minutes played, 413 minutes per goal.

We've had defenders with more own goals in a season than that.

As in the case of one Kevin Davies, stats don't always tell the story. Could he be a big unit, a hold-the-ball-up sort of striker instead?

Aye, fair comment – I've rolled out SKD as the rule-proving exception a few times meself, so I'll accept it :D

For the record, Kev had a better scoring rate than that when we signed him. He'd played 6,501 Premier League minutes and scored 18 goals, one every 361 minutes - better than Arthur's strikerate at this level and the one below. But we really are in beggars/choosers territory and as I say I'd love him to prove a stunning success. He's 5ft 11, an inch shorter than Kev, but our hero proved you don't need immense height to have immense courage.
