Follow the club's Twitter account. It's all they ever post.

Footage of our cup reply v Notts Forest in 1981. The last time, I think, that we had over 20,000 on Burnden. Over 200 minutes of football and we held our own against the European champions. The game on Saturday at their place had finished 3-3, and only after they equalised late on. Peter Shilton had featured in that Sundays papers after being caught with another woman. He got one or two reminders from the Paddock that night!

Not quite, but the gate of 22,799 would never be matched. And we didn't hit 20,000 for a decade after that night (6/1/81), until the good times came back - first with Neal's side v Saints, then Bruce's bunch in five big games, then half a dozen Prem games and finally, unforgettably, the curtain-dropper that still makes me emotional, even all these years later.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 4:01 pmFound this link on WW

Blimey. I'd have sworn our capacity was below 20k for most of those. I remember them finding a few extra nooks and crannies for that Charlton game though. Some cracking games in that list DSB. And a couple I'd rather not think about too

It’s possible the capacity was lower in the mid-80s with bigger segregation areas etc.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 6:59 pmBlimey. Some interesting omissions in that list too, eg Villa (FA5) and Swindon (Lge Cup semi). Guess we needed the away end sold out to top 20k? Stoke the midweek before Preston in May 1993 was 19,000-odd.
