Not sure I spot other teams dropping their best wb's constantly, due to three games in 8 days...I do have a problem with the notion that footballers aren't fit enough by the middle of October. It's a bit like me saying I'll put a shift in starting every Tuesday lunchtime.

I hear you, but I don't think Tutte can start three games in a week even if he's subbed on the hour (which also cuts down tactical options elsewhere). And hopefully Comley is good enough to start against the team 92nd in the league.
Do you think our players have got better or worse after the 60th minute? Evatt cited that time in midweek as when a possession team should be tiring out their oppos, but so far it seems to me like we've been the ones who have tired - especially in midfield. I don't like it and I trust it will change soon - being in front will help - but it seems fairly obvious to me that we have not been finishing strongly. Do you disagree?Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:28 pmNot sure I spot other teams dropping their best wb's constantly, due to three games in 8 days...I do have a problem with the notion that footballers aren't fit enough by the middle of October. Also: "best wb's" is an arguable concept. I like Hickman and Mascoll but they weren't great against Grimsby. It's hardly dropping Maldini for Cowdrill. We don't even know what the lad Kioso is like.

No, don't disagree we've started to look leggy at 60 mins. I thought last week, if anything, Grimsby looked to have more about them in last 20. They hadn't trained for 2 weeks. My question still stands. How much of the season should we expect to pass before a footballer can manage 90 minutes?

I don't have an answer to that, but we have a sport-science department to measure their analytics – and even in May, if the opponents are looking stronger than us maybe we should change things up. Grimsby looked better after they made two subs on 64 minutes and another on 76. It's not an 11-man squad.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:46 pmNo, don't disagree we've started to look leggy at 60 mins. I think it's an insurance policy if we're 0-0 on the 60th minute.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:22 pmComley has shown very little so far and it seems a big risk to start him in place of Tutte. Why not start Tutte and try to establish a lead before subbing him off?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:09 pmBear in mind we play at Barrow in midweek, and some players aren't yet up to puff – Tutte has been blowing a bit after the hour - while you wouldn't expect the same wingbacks to start Sat-Tue-Sat. The manager might think that's a harder game (and one he really really wants to win). Which is not to take away from this one, but hopefully Comley can find his feet against Oldham.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 2:02 pmThree of our better players from last week, benched...

Interesting to see that whoever won the toss elected to switch ends...

Gordon the weak link so far. Oldham pinging the ball long to his corner. He's struggling aerially.

Comley seems to be "looking up" more, seeking a forward ball if possible. Good good.

We desperately need some width higher up the pitch for me. It’s too hard to get out here. Looking at either getting Delfouneso in down the channel or a 60 yard switch to the wing back it’s not easy enough for me. We struggle in midfield again.

The striker Oldham has is exactly what we need. He is keeping the ball and getting them up the pitch. We have no options in their half at all.

Unrealistic too. By now it would be stunned silence and that one bloke in row S munching through his third pie....Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 3:23 pmHow do I get a message to them to turn that fecking racket down?
