A Barrow load of trouble. Barrow (A) League 2. 20/10/20 KO 7pm

Who's braving this on iFollow?

A pivotal game for Evatt.

We lose and we could drop into the relegation places. With a possibly disenchanted squad and a closed transfer window.

Win, and perhaps his style and message has got through and the foundations are laid for a long unbeaten run.

Right now I'd take a 1-1 draw.

They haven't won yet. We're great at ending losing streaks. But, we did ok v Harrogate so maybe, just maybe, we guts it out for a point. Neither side is exactly busting the net every 5 minutes - we've bagged 3, they've bagged 4 so it feels like odd goal here and there - 1-1 or 2-1 to "someone"...can't call it.

If I can actually get to the iFollow purchase page tomorrow, I'll probably risk it, having spent the entire first half trying to find a web page that would allow me to make a purchase on Saturday - it did me a favour in the end.

I'll pay. I'll pray. I'll watch with hope. And for now I'll accept a 1-0 off someone's arse.

Funny feeling that Evatt might switch to 4-2-3-1 - partly because Barrow will be expecting a back three, and partly because he could now play Peter K and Hickman (or Gnahoua) in concert up the right, with Fonz off the left; he'd probably drop Brockbank. I'm not saying I'd make that switch myself but it's certainly an option.

Personally I'd bring in Tutte for Comley and Mascoll for Gordon - possibly also Hickman for Kioso depending how tired the new lad is. (On Saturday we visit the current league leaders, but it's one game at a time and as noted this is a big one for Evatt.) Whatever changes are made I'd be demanding that they show for each other and progress up the pitch. As I say I'd also switch the midfield set-up so Tutte sits behind the other two, who play as forward-ranging midfielders offering options and angles.

Think I'll go for the more-fun option of running round a hilly park in the besieged enclave of Breightmet, in the pitch dark, dodging the dogshit in the cold and the rain whilst wearing shorts and a miner's lamp instead.

Care to join me? :)

Well when you put it like that..

See you there :D

It's got to be preferable to watching Chris Taylor tearing us a new one..

COYW. Might be a good game for us this. Barrow will want to come at us and we might be better on the break....

Barrow will be hurting from Evatt doing the run to us. They'll play like warriors for 90 minutes.

Gonna get absolutely humiliated until the 90th minute.

Then we'll score. 0-1 to the whites.

Lose this and it will be the lowest since I began watching Bolton in the 60s.

After witnessing their demise so far this season I have to ask, "who's going to score the goals"? This crop of players sure aren't going to put many teams to the sword. I honestly cannot see a Wanderers win, a draw would be a decent result.

2-0 win, our players will be more comfortable with the surroundings as this is the type & size of stadium that they have been used to.

Doesn't that apply to their players too? The opposition don't seem to have had much bother being comfortable to the surroundings of the Unibol...

Perhaps the opposition raise their game at the Reebok, and ours maybe shrink a little ? - just a thought and some positive thinking.

I admire your positivity, Bertie, however, would it not then follow that we'd be bossing our away games?

Yes it would Bruce - we won at Harrogate (well Doncaster) & we will win tomorrow night.

Apparently police have warned the Club, there might be some sort of gathering, to welcome Evatt back in traditional "hell hath no fury" style. In Barrow. Pop 65,000. That said, it only takes the one family to support it and there's fcuk all else to do in Barrow.

The two British places in which I've experienced the most hostility for being an 'outsider' are Stirling (fairly understandable) and Barrow. They're a bunch of tiny gene pool angry types, pent up because they're so remote they've no-one to fight other than amongst themselves. The last time I was there Vickers was on its arse again, so the feck* were on top form.

Aye. Along with the likes of Whitehaven & Workington all pretty bleak "been there once" type places.

I've done it again. For the tenth time this season I've thrown a tenner down the e-tube, more in hope than expectation. That's the thing that keeps us all coming back, after years and decades of cack. Maybe this time... we're all like Charlie Brown being fooled by Lucy that she'll definitely hold the ball still...

Yeah, I'm gonna part with a tenner again too. Hoping they don't make me as angry as they did in the 95th minute last time.
I think we'll sneak a 2-1

Interesting - I completely understand the anger but I just physically slumped. About four times as they advanced up the pitch I changed my mind on the inevitability of them scoring – "oh they'll score here" - "don't be daft, you're being nervous" - "no, we're crap" - "we've got enough back if he just - " - "oh FFS".

Apropos of not very much at all, I feel reasonably confident about tonight. I don't think we'll play particularly well but I think we'll end up winning by a goal. So much so that I've booked an early finish at work to make sure I get home in time for the inconsiderately early kick-off.

I like the suggestion of inverting the midfield triangle so we have Sarcevic and Crawford as a two further forward. Hopefully, if we try it it results in us having more players further forward, and stops Doyle dropping deep where he's no use to us.

I've just got a nagging feeling that last Saturday might prove to be this generation's Scarborough.
