All change at Crewe....
Well, it used to be, but what about Bolton......? We don't want a return ticket there, so, can we turn the train round at home....? .....

Re: All change at Crewe....
An opportunity for the players to play without too much pressure on their shoulders. Whether that makes an appreciable difference, we'll see.
Evatt has stated he's going to play a strong lineup, but I'd personally like to see some minutes for Isgrove and Miller if they're fit enough. I'd also definitely play Alexander over Crellin, although I suspect that's highly unlikely.
1-2 but a decent performance.

No replays in the Cup this season. We're either on the Wembley Express or getting off at Horwich tomorrow evening.

Do you remember the days when the FA cup really was magical and you didn't need the Beeb to keep telling you it was? Even 1st round ties were eagerly anticipated as you'd be looking to see if it gave you a real chance to progress and be one round nearer to landing a plum tie.
Nowadays, even with crowds allowed in, you might be lucky enough to be drawn against a Premier league giant like Brighton or Burnley, whose kids would draw a crowd of around 5000 and who'd then tear apart your own collection of fringe players.
I've no idea on tomorrow's score and I care even less. 0-3 defeat.

Re: All change at Crewe....
Well that'd make a change
You have to laugh, right?
Right?
I guess I won't be able to stop myself paying a tenner to watch it, but I can't say I'm enthusiastic.
I think he should play those who haven't had many minutes recently. For some, it's a chance to stake a claim; for some, perhaps a last chance.
Alexander; Senior, Taft, Greenidge; Hickman, White, Comley, Mascoll; Isgrove, Delf, Darcy. Subs to include Miller, Riley, Lockett.

Every new game has the potential to be the start of the turnaround...

Yes indeed, and Home Internationals were public domain on T.V and the Dick Turpin's and co of the internet world were still frantically inventing money grabbing, and giant killers from back then are our weekly opponents now and dashing home for Sports Report on Saturday radio was a must in time to catch "Bolton Wanderers nil"...Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 4:33 pmDo you remember the days when the FA cup really was magical and you didn't need the Beeb to keep telling you it was? .

I'd say they are going to rip them a new one.
Who you say?
Well let's wait and see.

Meh. Perfect excuse not to bother this weekend and actually do something worthwhile.
Ah
I’ll still be here at 255 bitching about the team selection, who am I kidding?

Well it's either watch with horror or a load of repeats on the 800 ppv channels. Might try and find a box set.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 11:41 pmMeh. Perfect excuse not to bother this weekend and actually do something worthwhile.

IFollow figures will probably make grim reading. Would be one of the lowest crowds at the ground if we were allowed in I suspect.

Thread title was almost entirely wrong - just one change, Gordon for Brockbank

Re: All change at Crewe....
Anyone who thought Gilkes/Alexander would come into play about to be very disappointed...
Think he’s missed a trick in sticking with the formation as well, but I suppose that lack of options down the left doesn’t help there. Fingers crossed they’ve spent some time teaching Gordon about using the space out wide in training.

I’ll be watching young Jaaskelainen in goal rather jealously this afternoon!
Re: All change at Crewe....
Bringing in a replacement for Crellin absolutely needs to be our top priority. Jesus christ.

They're lightyears ahead of us.

(b) the FA cup's irrelevent nowadays by comparison.
Must be for three reasons - in no partucular order;
Premiership clubs are only interested int he Premiership, so will mostly play under-strength teams in the FA Cup.
Once, the FA Cup final was the ONLY live televised club game. If you wanted your team to be on telly live, that was the only way.
Used to be a huge deal, with FA Cup Final day being extended way before KO and afterwards. Games between fan's sides, following the coach to the ground etc
Wembly - a big draw; for the vast majority of teams you could only get there via the league Cup or FA Cup...finals. Now, there are 4th division playoffs, Leyland Daft nice person Cup Trophies, even the semi-finals are played there. And Wembley is no better than some of the other stadiums now being built. Wembley....so what??
Suggestion; give a European Champion's league place to the winners (or a guaranteed playoff with PL 2nd place team), and the Premier clubs might take it more seriously. Drop the semis from there, and remove play-off finals from Wembley when other grounds could be used.
Rant over!
But the shareholders with seats want the games so they get their money's worth....

Re: All change at Crewe....
Why are we allowing them so much space to play out?
Re: All change at Crewe....
That was entirely Darcy's fault unfortunately.

0-1, not before time. Darcy loses it on halfway, they cut through us, inevitable.
