It's no good having the best 2 players in the league if the rest are shite. We had to put a whole squad together in the summer. Both gambles at lwb didn't work and so we're stuck with square pegs in one of the most important positions in the team.

You can certainly criticise him for sticking with it but tbf no other combination jumps out as being obvious. It's not like Coyle where it's blindingly obvious. It also seen clear that LWB and central midfield, two of the problem areas, are targets this window.

As long as we stay shy of relegation, he gets January and the summer for me.

It's no use saying we've got to give managers time then wanting rid when it goes wrong. They don't need time when it's going well!
Aye. There's nowt else to do, so humour me, people: who would you pick, in which formation, in the next game? Like you, I'm yet to see an alternative that feels worth the ol' Year Zero.
Let me ask a different question. Parachute a good manager in. Let’s say Big Sam. What would he play? And you know and can bet it wouldn’t be close to how we setup now.

From what I have seen and read on here, Bolton fans are more patient than I originally thought. My patience ended many games ago, not so much the team but, the way Evatt wants his players to play. When will he realise those players are not good enough to play that way.
We need a pair of midfielders and someone to compliment Doyle otherwise promotion will long be out of reach.
Apart from a couple, this current crop of players are no where good enough for the club and this league.
He has already said in the past few weeks that they aren't and they'll be off.

We dominated the first 15 and the last 30. This is the issue. Inconsistency with effort and ability. There was almost an "oh feck" moment when we conceded. That effort is what is required all the time. Look at Sarcevic when we haven't scored within the first 15 minutes. Evatt knows this and rotates the players through(Crawford an example). The trouble is how do you guess who's going to let you down?

We're all full of hind sight on here and we expect nothing less than 100%. We're in League 2, built up as this team that is too good for the league. Admittedly Evatt could have tempered the expectation however we're under embargo following the worst period of my time following the team. I assume the man has given his system and asked for players to fit it. What ever was done didn't work and we'll see what happens this month.

Another 12 months of the embargo and a salary cap. Joy of joys.
The salary cap makes no difference to us. League two caps wages across the board anyway.

Embargo hasn’t stopped us getting top scorer from the league has it?
Explain how it doesn't? We have a team that is not good enough, how do we sort it?

Eoin Doyle was a free and signed before the league cap but you knew that.
Every team in this league is capped to 60% of its turnover IIRC. So not sure what sort of difference you think there’d be? Are you saying that out of embargo we’d have more money to spend on players especially given our turnover will be very very very low right now?

The embargo and cap is irrelevant. We’d be signing frees and cheap players like the rest of this division. We are in league two and signed some of the better players from this league last year. The quality of players across this league is not exactly high. We are losing to teams better organised with more spirit and structure.

OMG you're right – if we hired Bielsa he might play 3-3-3-1.

But possibly not with these players.

Bollocks to the perfectly rational question DSB, here have one that wants us to all live 15 years in the past.
Sam successfully got twatted 5-0 at home by Leeds who in turn lost 3-0 to Spurs. Get him in.

Well, from the sounds of it we should have drawn this one, and I’m sure if we’d had the sentiment on here would be markedly different.

Hopefully before our next game we will have added a few quality players in key positions and can kick on.

It could have been 4 or 5 - 1.

We played well after going down a goal. If we'd have continued playing well if we'd equalised I don't know as Crawley had a threat going through the middle.

That's the fcuking problem playing well after we go a goal down. We went a goal down with 25 mins left, what about playing at the same tempo for the previous 65 mins ?, Evatt doesn't have an answer to that. his fcuking post match interviews are becoming every bit as tedious as Parkinsons, Freedmans etc.

Also a lot of teams when they get in front in the 2nd half will then sit back & try protect their lead with 20-25 mins to go and not offer much going forward. This manager & team are benefitting from the COVID-19 lockdown as if we had 10,000 - 12,000 fans in losing week after week to Crawley, Forest Green & the other former non league no bodies would have resulted in dogs abuse from the fans. Evatt is very lucky that fans are not allowed in the ground as he would have been hounded out - we have just lost 3 successive home games in div 4 against pub teams.

Not overly impressed with his post match. But we now have time to get some "content" into them. Whilst we're bemoaning that we didn't score, they might have got at least one in the first half too.

"We're losing in a decent manner" isn't a great sales pitch.

Saying we are a div 4 pub team means you might as well give up and never expect to win a game again. We are a shit premiership team. We are a poor championship side. We are a penniless league one side....

Why on earth are your expectations so low that you would just let us slide to the bottom of league two....Christ we might as well try. Results with the leagues top scorer and players we have should be far far better. Whatever anyone says we should be judging these results and they aren’t in any way good enough. I will also repeat good managers make the best out of far worse situations than this. Evatt is seemingly content with losing. Which is never a good sign. He should be hurting and every defeat should see him angry and determined. But I feel it’s another Coyle where there simply isn’t the determination to get a result above all else and that transmits itself across the whole club like a rot. Needs fixing.

Can you imagine years ago if we had lost for the 3rd successive home game in Div 4 to Crawley - the worst thing though is how acceptable it has become to the fans - how shit and apathetic is that (is that a word ?). As fans we now just accept absolute mediocrity & failure by successive owners & managers week after week, season after season - it just shows how shite we have become as a fan base that we accept constant bullshit.

What is his (and FV's) excuse going to be when he brings in 2 or 3 players in January to improve us but we are still shit & make the same mistakes and still can't play his Guardiola football - who will Evatt blame then ?
