Can we press on against the Iron? Scunthorpe (H) 23.2.21 7pm KO

I will concede that Williams has had a good game tonight, although not sure I can agree with BWFCi’s description of ‘classy’ 😂
Really? Strokes it around really well. Breaks up play. Classic defensive midfield player. Few amazing 50 yard balls too. For me he’s probably the classiest player we’ve got in that he’s very comfortable in his role and is consistent across the 90 minutes rather than in and out of games.
Great engine as well. Never stops running.

I don't really like that team tonight, I can't understand why Isgrove ahead of Sarce or MM - we will be lucky to get a draw tonight IMO but I hope that I'm wrong.

I'm also puzzled that he has Comley on the bench again ahead of Jensen, surely with Tutte, Sarce & Maddison on the bench he doesn't need 4 midfielders ahead of a reserve keeper, its silly & cocky IMO from Evatt one of these days Gilks will get injured and we will be fcuked.
It just shows how little I know, I thought Isgrove played well probably the best he's played for us and overall it was possibly our best performance of the season apart from the usual 10-15 min lethargic period after HT.

Good convincing win, MJ Williams was also very good IMO, as was John 1st half, Santos & Baptiste again very good, great finish from Sarce btw

I had MJ down as MOTM for most of it, but he nearly made a couple of boobs...Santos missed nowt, nor did Baptiste and it could've been a different second half without that excellent goal line clearance. So I think in a photo finish, I'd give the vote to Baps.

At the start of February we were 19th in the table on 31 points whilst Carlisle was 2nd with 42 points.

Now we're in 9th on 44 with Carlisle 10th on 43. What a turn around for both teams.
That really is astonishing even considering the amount of games Carlisle have had postponed.

It’s a funny old game isn’t it?

To be fair, they've hardly played.

Carlisle must have some fixture list. Fatigue much? Great to think on Saturday we can rotate that whole forward line. Decent win for Barrow tonight mind.

You'd think they'd get a point or two with their 4 games in hand on us...but we just need to keep putting what points we can on the board

It would be great to have a third centre back we could use to spell Santos and Baptiste. Centre back is now the only position where if we suffer an injury to a starter we’d be significantly weakened.

If this doesn't jinx the unbeaten run, nothing will.

Indeed. We just need to worry about beating what's in front of us.

Do you know I think Delaney would be alright - better full backs and better centre mods in front make a big difference.

Maybe instead of Baptiste, but we’d be so fecked without Santos.

I’m more concerned about injuries to either of them, given they’re both playing 90 mins twice every week.

I think tonight was the first time I felt comfortable throughout. There was a hairy moment when Baptiste cleared off the line but apart from that I never really worried about the result.

I thought that big lump up front would worry us at set pieces - they had a couple of chances from corners in our usual off period. I would still have backed us to score again mind.

Missed most of that unfortunately, but saw the last half hour where it was fairly even but we defended comfortably.
Sounds like performances are catching up to results, which is really encouraging.
