Fingers crossed our favourite postman, Phil Morris, helps Grimsby put one over on Tranmere tonight.
Jeff Smith's been on - called you a knob (very tunefully)

That would be nice. We might be in the position of wanting them to beat others so we can finish in the top 3 which will be a bit grim.
Aye, they've still to play all the (current) top three, which they'll be hoping to break into. They play the current top two over Easter. Plus, over our shoulder, Salford and Exeter...

Watched the whole 90 minutes.

Don't ask how or why but Tranmere looked very lethargic.

Odd one. Thought he’d do well there under Hill. Still our assist leader (joint with the king now).

Proper lost his way. I’ll have an internet tenner on him moving back to Scotland this summer. Possibly not quite good enough for Celtic or rangers maybe one of the also teams.

Deflated after losing at Wembley on Sunday perhaps? Let's hope it marks the start of a downward turn.

it would be a well-times downward turn, as after Exeter (H) they face a long midweek trip to Colchester, then Mansfield on the Saturday before their big Easter double-header with Cheltenham and Cambridge starts a run of seven games in 23 days.

And they're apparently missing Vaughan greatly after his knee surgery.

Crawford is miles away from the old firm. Done after his injury. Like a worse Lee. Shame s he was a good player. Vaughan a class act at this level. They will struggle without him. We'd beat them at Wembley if we weren't champions.

Thought I'd move this over here, Mar...

Here's an updated table to indicate what it would like if everyone was on 35 games played, now including Carlisle and taking into account Tranmere's 0-0 draw last night.

64 Forest Green Rovers
62 Cheltenham
61 Cambridge (played 36)
61 Tranmere Rovers
59 Exeter
57 Carlisle
57 Newport
57 Bolton
56 Morecambe
54 Salford
54 Crawley

We're 5 points off the title as it stands, with worst case scenario being 7 points. We have fixtures against 7 of those that could be considered to be in the mix: FGR, Newport, Carlisle, Morecambe, Salford, Crawley and Exeter. Decent form against the chasing pack should see us securing the playoffs, decent form against the top teams should see us putting in a good automatic challenge.

I'd like to hope that come the last 4 games of the season against Carlisle, Morecambe, Exeter and Crawley, that a few of those teams would've fallen away and will ease up some of the opposition.
Interesting thought but as they're currently 11th, 7th, 8th and 10th, the only way they can ALL fall away is if Salford take an iron grip on that last place, which doesn't look likely on current form. But one or two of them might fall away.

Carlisle have got a hell of a schedule (with, as ever, a lot of travelling). Utilising every midweek slot, they have to play 23 games in 82 days (they're already 9 into it (W1 D3 L5). You have to think unless they have an exceptionally deep squad or fit players, they're going to be blowing out of their arse by late April. But they host Cambridge a week on Saturday and travel to Newport and Cheltenham 9as well as us) in April. so they'll have a say.

But not quite as much as Exeter, whose last seven games are against Cambridge (currently 2nd), Barrow (22nd), Southend (23rd), Forest Green (3rd), Newport (5th), Grimsby (24th), Bolton (6th) and Barrow again...

I stuck a tenner on us winning the league last summer. Pretty much up until last week the cash out value has been nowt but now they're now offering me about six quid which means the sky bet algorithms are getting a bit twitchy about us and that we're nailed on and that you can't argue with science.

If anybody fancies chucking in scores to predicting the rest of the season, you can play to your heart's content here https://www.worldfootball.net/table_cal ... eague-two/

There are still 139 games to play in the division but considerably fewer if you ignore the irrelevant ones and don't agonise over scorelines. Just bunging in 1-0 for any win, 0-0 for any draw gives you a quick idea and is frankly as likely as any...

It's frankly silly, but also exhilarating and exciting and nerve-wracking... by the end of Easter I've got two points separating second and fifth...

(But annoyingly it doesn't have the catch-up games in the right place - you have to track leftwards, back in time to when they were postponed, to 'play' them)

Fixtures predictor: had another go with this one

https://thefishy.co.uk/calculator0.php?Competition=4

And by jingo it's exciting

I have us 5th in mid-April, with a Worthy-infuriating two dropped points at Salford, but then others do the same: Newport-Cambridge is a draw, then Bradford-Tranmere and suddenly we're third. Newport win their game in hand to go back above us on goal difference on April 27, but then in the second-last game they're held to a draw by title-winners Cheltenham and we win our last two to pop champagne corks.

WELL IT MIGHT HAPPEN

Joe Ledley has signed for Newport. That’s two players I know at clubs other than Tranmeres BWFC reject army.
