Will it be Balsall from Walsall? Sat 20/3/22 (h) 15:00

Grinding out results when we're not playing well is great for the table. Not so good for my ticker though.
Haha aye, I wouldn't mind a 3-0 thrown in there.

Amazing comeback and result!

Shouldn't have been a red card, was a penalty for us, and correct decision to yellow card their player for simulation.
Agreed, though as others have said I'd have been livid if he did that for us, gave the ref an opportunity. I think that's almost always bollocks when people say it about tackles, but afters like that, thick as f*ck.

I genuinely think we can win it.
Yeah, agree. As they say, you give the ref a decision to make. Naive from the player.

I'd say 2-1 sounds a perfectly fair reflection
it would, to somebody who didn't watch the game. However, you saw the game ;)

The shithousery from the referee was awesome. Give them the freekicks all game outside the box then when they want the penalty, yellow for simulation.

Cheers pal.

I’m not so convinced theirs wasn’t a penalty. Only seen one replay but looked a push to me.

Well, that score line doesn't tell an accurate story, does it?! Absolutely shocking. But hey, we'll take it ;)
This - great result but a very poor performance IMO, we have had some really shite refs this season and have generally been on the end of some really shite decisions, but that one today balances it out for me.

We really do need to play with more tempo & intensity, a very poor performance for me but obviously a good win.

Lee put his hand on his back, as their diving prick of a player ‘fell’ and was almost horizontal in his path at the time. He had nowhere to go and tried to stop himself falling.

Lately in the prem, any contact at all in the box seems to result in a penalty. I wouldn't have been surprised to see them get it tbh.

The daft thing is, Walsall had executed their gameplan perfectly up to the silly red. We'll have to be a lot better next weekend.

I think if he hadn't taken a huge dive, the push might have looked a bit more obvious...but looked like a push to me, too.

Two teams on the pitch. They played well, pressed high, leathered anything near box away, and dived and wasted time at any chance.

It's tough to create momentum and rhythm. But no arguments we were awful first half. I thought the second was fine. Upped the tempo and still think we deserved to win the game. No ambition at all from them, get what you deserve.

Next week is huge.

Yeah either way whatever decision pen or not I think VAR would have upheld it. There was enough evidence of contact to give it as well as deciding he was on his way down too easily.

He sprinted, then immediately stopped to get contact and threw himself horizontal.

It's never ever a penalty at any level.

I did - and as a football journalist rather than a concerned fan, I'd say Walsall didn't look as good as Bolton. Organised, hardworking, shithousey, but limited and with worse players less capable of scoring.

As a fan, I'm disappointed we didn't hammer them but I suppose more relieved than anything else. But as a professionally dispassionate watcher of very many football games over the years, I'd say the statistics tell a fair story of one team having far more intent to score, and coming close a few times before doing so.

Exactly. Lee falling through the player shows you how quickly the guy went to ground on a tiny bit of contact.

I'll take this narrative.

I was shouting at the 4th official for fecking up the subs board. We play on and score the equaliser. Well done that man!

This. We've played better than today and lost this season. Yes, we didn't exactly play to the high standards we've set ourselves recently. But it's doing us a massive disservice to say we didn't deserve the win.

Flip your viewpoint. If you were a Saddlers fan, are you really looking at that game and thinking you deserved anything more than a defeat?

We do struggle to close out games. What’s our biggest win this season?

Edit: It was 3-0 vs Southend.
