Very sad news. I was behind the goal when he scored *that* goal.

Re: Frank Worthington
Really sad news. I'll never forget his debut against Stoke in 77 - the 11 year old me sat there in the Manny Road seats in absolute awe. He scored too . When he left it was my first experience of the feeling of loss. Sounds overdramatic, I know, it's true though. RIP Worthy, and thanks for everything.

Re: Frank Worthington
Gutted to here this. When I was a sprog, we had a rag window cleaner who could see my Frankie posters and used to point at said posters and give it the wanker. Revenge was sweet when I hoisted his ladders onto the extension roof and lobbed his water bucket over him from said roof.
Oh and his 4 goals out of 5 when we did the double over the rags. Supreme.
Fair well, true Bolton ledge.

What a player. Even at my young age then, I could see he was something special.

What sad news. Before my time but you don’t become a wanderer without hearing about Frank, or falling in love with that goal. I did actually get to meet him a few years ago and he was a gent. Rest In Peace Frank.

As ever with death, tragic news. I was in the Manny Road stand with a mate for "that" goal. We went mad and couldn't wait for M.O.T.D that night..Last saw Frank at a gents evening and got an autographed programme of it . He was wearing the most awful jacket(I nearly said sports coat) ever. At least it was black and white, but you needed sunglasses to look at him. God bless a true football legend. R.I.P.

Sometimes in life there are things you don't want to hear, they make you shiver and go cold, this is one of them.
Frank, one of the most talented footballers of that era, the entertainer, put a smile on your face especially at Old Trafford.
RIP Fonzie, thank you.

Was it cheque print, Tango? If so it might be the same one he was wearing when I met him about 10 years ago, along with one of those bolo ties. It was certainly...a lookTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:10 amAs ever with death, tragic news. I was in the Manny Road stand with a mate for "that" goal. Top bloke. Like Dibs, before my time but he's part of the folklore.
He played on a legends game (before a pre-season friendly?) a while back. Still had the touch though he looked like he was going to keel over any second.
RIP Worthy.

Yes I remember that same feeling, totally gutted when he left. We never recovered from losing him or Reid through injury that second season. What a player Worthy was, scored some marvellous goals and was top scorer in front of Dalglish in 78/79. RIP Franky, thanks for the memories!!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 9:12 amReally sad news. Sounds about right, down to the string tie and Jimmy Nail "Crocodile Shoes" cowboy boots. Not one for low profile was Frank...Prufrock wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:28 pmWas it cheque print, Tango? What a life led. RIP Frank.
Can't remember seeing him play, was only 4 when he left, although I did go to his testimonial at Burnden in 1992. So I did see him play!

Was sat at the other end (on the railings pitchside). Saw him flick it up and over, then... the place going berserker. Had to see it on'telly later for the rest. Loved him. Saw someone say part of their childhood has died - I get that...TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 8:59 am
