6 months? Hmm.

Delighted to have him, though.

Well, we kind of had to, given we had no squad to speak of...

We're getting them in much earlier than last summer actually, at least they'll have a bit more time to bed in.

Early is always good so long as we are getting the right quality. We started well and I think this loan sounds sensible. But few I’m less sure on. Time will tell.

Craig McGillivray has signed for Charlton. I understand budgets etc, but I feel that's a miss. He's a good player. Between him and Dixon, I know who I am taking all day long. Same with Gilks.

I am prepared to eat my words this season.
Wigan have taken Ben Amos on a 2 year deal, if that softens your disappointment at all?
Delighted. Be doubly delighted if they're spunking as much cash on his wages as we managed to.

I'm not sure how much better we could be doing for the amount of money we seem to be spending (every little compared to other top sides at this level). In terms of the types of player we need I think we are clearly doing well.

Dixon > Crellin
Aimson > Delaney
Johnston > Greenidge
Sheehan > Comley
Baka > Arthur
Amaechi > Elbouzedi

Throw in that we've kept two of our best players and, whilst there are always concerns you can raise, we are flying.

Whether we are doing *enough* is up for grabs and depends on how how you are aiming.

Sure it’s not a critique - we just need to be realistic. Not sure Aimson is an upgrade on Delaney though, time will tell.

Aye. Seems like a bit of a suck-it-and-see. Good luck to the lad!

Just seems a bit like Verlinden. If he does well we risk him being recalled or going on loan at a higher level, if he does poorly why keep him?

Yeah, I almost put an asterisk next to Aimson just for you

We've made 8 signings and undoubtedly improved the squad, all by the first day of preseason training.

How much we've improved the first 11 is the issue. I make it potentially 3-4 players.....Johnston, Sheehan and Amaechi look like they should be upgrades. Bakayoko looks situational.

You can get into the long grass and ask whether Johnston, even if he is now better as an individual than Baptiste (who is past his prime), will take something away from the exceptional pairing we had last season. You could wonder how quickly it will take these guys to adapt and whether 6 months of Amaechi is enough to see the full benefits of a young player in a demanding system. They're legitimate issues.

I'm genuinely pleased with the business we have done so far. I'm not sure we have improved enough to be where I want us to be, but we'll find out in due course. I think we need at least 3 more players and I'd like 4, so we'll see what quality we get in.

Yeah I’m very happy with where we are. I am still of the mindset that mid table will be great next season. I think anything more is unlikely but mid table league one would be very good progress for us.

We are building enough of a stable squad that hopefully we can move on from there again.

But I also think these leagues are tight and a good run at the right time and who knows? My gut feel is we might be a little too lightweight physically to really challenge but time will tell.

I would be impressed with Mbappe

However I think perhaps it might be another striker with a six-letter surname beginning with M

Phew!

Mullin linked with Boro and Rotherham. Can't imagine we can compete with either of them. Anyway, it's Nixon the big bullshitting fanny, so I refuse to speculate any longer!
