The obvious takeaway for me is that is impossible to tell if you've sold at the right point without the benefit of hindsight, if at all. To say the aim is to sell at the right time is about as useful as saying the aim is to win.

What I do know is that I have no interest on ever getting back on the gravy train of mortgaging the future of the club. I don't know if fan ownership is the answer, making owners personally liable for debts over the value of the club's assets, or what.

I used to think e would broadly be fine as no club of our size would ever really go bust. Safe to say I don't think that anymore. Someone will.

Indeed. It's like "playing the markets" - in more ways than one.
