Why we are (maybe) going to go up again

Italy have an Immobile up front.

We once employed Gary Madine.
I will admit there may be mild quality difference between the two sides.

I'd have been tempted to go for Trevor Morgan.......

I can remember people arguing that Rasiak would be a 1 in 2 striker for us.

A striker nicknamed Sumo suits the Immobile/immobile gag.

Sign Joe Pigott. He's basically a League One version of Immobile and we can call him "Piggy"...

Surely his nickname would be Lester.

I feel I may be derailing this discussion.

The entire basis of this thread is me comparing a League Two promotion side to one the best international sides on the planet. I am pretty sure anything goes.

Fair enough.

Just watched the Italy highlights and, as usual, you make a very good point.

Kudos also to Italy for being on-brand by replacing the stricken 36-y-o centre-back Chiellinu with a 33-y-o. They do trust experience at the back.

Good to see that the young man took his chance. It'll do his career no harm and hopefully he can now kick on as he moves into his prime.

Still getting his ears flicked by Bonucci, who was in the school year above him

Italy has always been one of my favorite International teams since the 80s when Rossi did a number on fan favorites Brazil. Always very strong and organized in defense, with a devastating counter attack. To be honest, I am not seeing the comparison with my Bolton team as the quality gap is so huge.

One thing though, the biggest impediment to BWFC playing the way we play is that the first touch of our key players is very heavy .. Doyle, Sarce for example, and they play in our central spine. Hence we lose the ball a lot in the top third of the field, impacting our ability to penetrate. As we step up in league 1, we will lose the ball even more as the opposition gives us less space and are quicker to the ball. Sheehan seems to have a better touch so hopefully with him and few more good attacking signings, we will protect the ball better, and can become as effective as Italy in our league.
