Johnston has had some good reviews for this game. Probably being saved for next week if Reeks isn't back. Even if he is, the lad will be pushing Baps soon.

Barring Dixon's gift to FCUM, that's the first we've conceded since the first 20 minutes of preseason.
Doyler on for Izzy; presume Baka goes wide.

You can see the difference between Doyle and Bakayoko's hold up play. 2nd goal came from the lost possession up top.

Crawford, Tutte and Politic for Sheehan, Williams and Bakayoko. Just Jones and Baptiste (plus Dixon) lasting the 90.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 4:45 pmsubs: Darcy for Afolayan, Gordon for John. Now loads more.

And that's that. 2-2 no bad result against a Championship side, but it sounds like we let it slip? Comments?

Good game of football for both sets of fans.
Shame we didn't get the win but I think Evatt has learnt a lot from this.
I know he was only on the pitch 15 minutes but Gordon looked so different to the last time I saw him play.

Post match, can someone please share with the group as to what, if any, are the covid restrictions? I for one am at a loss.
Cheers.

This. Looks like a completely different player.
Re: Homecoming. Rovers (H) in pre-season, 31/07/2021, 3pm
Definitely looked better and more composed. Looks like a genuine contender for that left back spot.
Crawford looked to struggle when he came on then had a moment of quality to win a great chance only to rush it.
Politic didn't even see him have a touch. So not much to read there.
Good match by all accounts. I think the subs affected the amount of pressing we had in the defensive third which meant too much time on the ball for whoever slipped in their goal scorer. Either way I'm not expecting as many changes to be a factor in upcoming games.
A lot of positives. We looked generally dominant at times against a team a league ahead of us.

Rovers stepped it up in the 2nd half, gave us a rough time of it in the opening 15 minutes, but then it seemed to level out. Sheehan and Crawford had glorious chances to put us back ahead, not taken. Overall, more positives than negatives. We played very nice football, 1 and 2-touch stuff, got into some good positions. If we play like that in the season proper, we'll be closer to the top than the bottom.
Afolayan was the stand-out performer, but really the only starter to come out of the game with less than 7 or 8 out of 10 was probably Isgrove. Didn't show enough for the ball, didn't do enough with it when he did get it.

Also - thank you all for your kind words. My uncle's death was the fourth of five in a torrid 12 months. I'm hoping to try and do something to memorialise him at the game next weekend - he never really bothered with friendlies.
It felt so damn good to be home though - the noise when the squad came out was something else!

Blimey, that's tough TW
Some good performances out there today. Dapo and Bakayoko gave them a lot to think about in that first half. I'll be surprised if we come up against a better front 3 this season than Rovers trio, yet for an hour we barely gave them a sniff. The changes and their quality told in the end.
Josh Sheehan, the Welsh Djorkaeff on that showing, can't half open a defence with his passing. He should have the scored the winner today though.
Good game, one of the best PSFs I can remember, good atmosphere and only a tenner. It was great to be back. Roll on next Saturday!
