I was interested to read on the Oxford forum that all their right backs are injured, so they will be forced to play someone out of position. Music to the ears of Messrs. John and Afolayan perhaps?
My proposed lineup, barring any injuries which I'm unaware of, would be thus:
Dixon
Jones Santos Johnston John
Williams Lee
Sarcevic
Isgrove Doyle Dapo
2-1 to the Super Whites.
I don’t think you’ll be far off with that Gun but I’d be surprised if IE drops Sheehan for Lee. Lee for me gives more defensive stability alongside MJ but Sheehan definitely carries more of a goal threat, so I think he’ll go with that. When you look at who won’t start though, it does show the strength in depth we now have other than up top which gives me confidence our winning run will continue tomorrow. I wonder what IE is intending to do with Kacha when he’s fit though, will he be a wide man or could he be a backup for Doyler who’s struggling a little up front at the moment? Interesting times but as for tomorrow I’ll go for 2-0 to the Whites.

I think Sheehan or a few of em being 'dropped' is possible just given the run of fixtures; we've got two more weeks or two games a week I think, and Evatt has made a point in interviews about how some of the team are still getting up to speed in terms of fitness etc, particularly the two CBs and Doyler. Normally I'd be worried but as you say the strength we have in depth now makes a rotation policy less eyebrow-raising than it otherwise might be.Whitesince63 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:41 pmThe_Gun wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 4:06 pmThe common consensus amongst those in the know is that League One is the most competitive division in the country this season, and with another match coming up against a well respected side, that certainly doesn't seem far from the truth.

I think Sheehan had a full pre-season. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't start tommorow, especially as it's a home fixture.

That's fair and my comment unfairly highlighted sheehan. I think I just wondered be surprised if there was some general rotation the next week or two.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 7:34 pmI think Sheehan had a full pre-season. It'll be best available side tomorrow. Changes made Tuesday. Isgrove for Baka. John for Gordon if fully fit. Evatt has mentioned there are knocks so maybe others, but that's the most likely I reckon.

Oxford are a strong offensive side, so I could see Lee coming in to shore up the middle. Also Sheehan is in an unusually rich vein of goalscoring form for him - he scored three in the league last year, two the year before, and one the year before that.KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:53 pmI think Sheehan or a few of em being 'dropped' is possible just given the run of fixtures; we've got two more weeks or two games a week I think, and Evatt has made a point in interviews about how some of the team are still getting up to speed in terms of fitness etc, particularly the two CBs and Doyler. He's playing higher for us though. Doesn't have to be the heartbeat in the same way. After watching Wimbledon and Lincoln I'm pretty convinced that Lee argument is about the way the other side play rather than how good they are, and more about configuration than personnel. Need another body around MJ if a team is direct. Two pressing high with MJ as insurance if they play out. Assume Oxford are the later given Robinson's reputation but don't really know.

Doyle really struggles to hold the ball up.

He just can't. And we look wide open. Poor start even if the goal was dodgy.

Sounds like he’s done us again - Iles wondering if Taylor didn’t handle the ball round Dixon.

Santos is having a mare today. He really doesn't like the aerial game.
