Gilks flaps, fumbles and falls, but Santos clears for him.

More or less 90 for Kachunga. No idea how he played but it brings him closer to full fitness.

Five minutes of added time? Are we playing 12 again?

I did wonder if Evatt got straight on the blower after that howler and didn't reappear for the 2nd half!
No doubt who is number 1 now. Let's hope Gilks sharpens up enough to be an able deputy.

Game over, we win, the competition goes back to being pointless again.

Worrying change in demeanor when we scored our first.

Also good that we have firepower when needed.

Good work. Made it more difficult than we needed and subs brought on just showed the level of quality we have in our side.

Goals from Doyle, Delf and Dapo. Isgrove top class.

Nice to see Tutte and Thomason stepping up second half too.

Job done I guess.

Issues though with some of those players. Really worry about Brockbank. Probably needs games somewhere. I don’t think he’s league one anything I’m afraid.

Thomason got a bit better but still to me isn’t strong enough. Not for that role. He could be a runner. But not a conventional midfield player.

Kachunga got a full game nearly and you can see his class but he looks very very rusty still. Delf disappeared after moving to the right.

Neither hopeless nor particularly threatening. Needs minutes in the legs but also in the head, to mesh with team-mates and learn patterns of play. Tonight will have helped.

Second successive 3-2 home win from behind in this comp. And folk says it's pointless... :D

Yeah, you can't really say anybody really staked a claim to disrupt the first XI. Tutte looked alright but he's not an MJ type.

I fear Tutte is a good busy league 2 ratter. I worry he’s not going to live with league one and we’ve already seen the quality gap.

Liam Gordon is a bit hopeless but at least physically and athletically he can probably cope with playing games in league one. Whereas for me both Tutte and Thomason lack the physicality for the roles we need in league one. But there we are they’ve what we have got.

Thomason is young enough to bulk up…still think there’s a player in there. Tutte is happy being in the squad, not our biggest issue. Think you nailed it with Brockbank, he isn’t getting better not playing - Jones needs some serious competition.

Interesting. I think Tutte is more than just a ratter, I think he has a fine eye for a pass. Perhaps more of a Sheehan shadow than an MJ replacement. But yeah, League Two, probs.

Thomason is more of a passer than a tackler, perhaps another Sheehan type. Which all adds up to us being short of cover if MJ falls over. I can only imagine we'd have to ask Lee to sit and read the danger but again even he's not the same player.

Rochdale hooned Lpool kids 4-0 in the other group game.

We host the mini-scousers on Oct 5th then finish at Dale on Nov 9th.

How many teams go through?

Top two in each of 16 groups (eight in North, eight in South). Top team seeded, second team not.
Then it's one-game knockouts. Next two rounds (last 32 and last 16) regionalised, quarters and semis not.
