Is Dapo right now not one of the key ones given injuries up there? Not sure I'd fancy too many points without him.Prufrock wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:35 pmPretty much where I'm at. Minutes for one or two who might realistically play who need them, protect the really key ones.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:20 pmAs we discovered last spring, winning is a habit.
As we discovered for the three and a half seasons before that, so is losing.
I can understand why some wouldn't bother with this. I understand, but I don't agree.
I'd consider a couple of changes to protect our least replaceable players - Brocky for Jones, Tutte (cos Lee's out) for MJ, Kachunga for Doyle. Maybe give the auld fella another go in goal. I'd also have a mixed bench with kids/fringe players to call on if it's going well, couple of big hitters if not.
But let's try to win. This game and every game. What else are we here for?
I'd go
Gilks,
Brocky, Santos, Johnston, John (I think he needs games, as long as he's not carrying a niggle),
Sarce (though with Sheehan away and Lee a doubt for Monday he wouldn't play 90), Tutte, Thomason,
Isgrove, Kachunga, Dapo
Re: And a Po(r)t o Vale, Papa John please. 7-0clock Unibol.
I was conflicted. He's young, looks sharp, and is our main threat and I want to win the game (I want that Wembley trip too). And Delf is probably his replacement and he's shot.
But yeah I'd see the logic in leaving him out.

I wonder if he'll give Tutte and Thomasson a run out together in the middle tonight? Can't keep relying on MJ.

Or if they want to keep relying on MJ, he'll need a rest.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 3:08 pmI wonder if he'll give Tutte and Thomasson a run out together in the middle tonight? Can't keep relying on MJ.

No way would I be playing Dapo, Sarce, MJ, Doyle or Santos. We shouldn't need those players to beat what will likely be a weakened Port Vale side, and we absolutely can't afford any of them to pick up injuries.

Things haven't really gone well for in in our last two games. We need to put a statement out there, win convincingly and keep our confidence high. I have no issues with putting a strong team out there and keeping the players sharp.

Can politic play for them? Shame he can’t play for us instead of Dapo (to rest Dapo I mean).

Gilks, Brockbank, Santos, Baptiste, Gordon, Tutte, Thomason, Isgrove, Kachunga, Delf, Doyle
Subs: Dixon, Johnston, Sarce, Dapo, Senior, Max Conway, Mitchell Henry
Eight changes but a strong team.
Tutte's first minutes of the season, Senior's first matchday callup, plus two other kids on the bench
Not sure how that front four lines up- Kachunga on the left, Delf 10?

I'd be thinking Doyle will play a little deeper and Katchunga on point. Hard to be Captain from the front. Just a view.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:05 pm

I doubt it, TD, but we'll see. Literally in my case, like the sucker I am I've sprung a tenner for the iFollow feed...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 6:48 pmI'd be thinking Doyle will play a little deeper and Katchunga on point. Ilesy "just wondering" if we'll play 3-5-2 with Isgrove at right wingback...

Brocky's just nearly hit the byline on the overlap, so if it's a back three it's an adventurous one
Up top looks like Doyle with Kachunga L, Delf M, Izzy R

Lovely alley-ball from Delf sets Doyle chugging through but he drags his weak left-footer wide.

Great ball by Delf, Doyler on his own to the left with poor shot.

Unlucky - half-dozen pass-and-move sequence sends Izzy down the right, cross cleared behind for corner

Bolton playing well so far. Some standout moments from Delf, Brockbank and Gordon.
