Re: BWFC Reserves 2021/2022 - Central League
He's 20. He's played 20 or so first team games. For me - personally its not enough. And I think IE is a man who wants his youngsters playing games. Reserves are fine if you are either a teen or close to first team - and maybe George is. But at 20 if you play a season of reserve football that's a waste IMHO. Lets say we go up. GT plays the odd cup game and ressies. What then? He's not going to start in the championship and is back to square one.boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 2:17 pmHe's only young isn't he? The amount of games he's played in time he's had with us, is probably more than he would've expected and again, there'll be opportunities nearby - It's not like he's out of favour..
From what Evatt says about the intensity and the quality that we train at, there's an argument to be had, that these young lads may be better off sticking with us and learning, rather than cutting their craft on Port Vale's bench, or in a hotel room in Norway
Need to get young lads out for experience - even if they can't make it here its far better for their careers in many cases.

Suddenly it's 2-2. A goal and a Baptiste deflection throw our lead away.
Edit..Make that 3-2 Stanley....

I thought he was 18/19!! You're right then, but players play longer nowadays and a lot of players don't start kicking a 1st team ball until 22/23 so there's still time.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 2:21 pmHe's 20. There's January to come, so a good loan is still possible - Especially if we're flying high in the division, a Lge 1 team may fancy a bit of him

Finished 3-3. A bit disappointing after leading 2-0.

Aye. Dapo is 24 and only has 60 odd games under his belt. And until this season perhaps the end of last probably hadn't really cracked it. But you could argue regular footy last season with us was maybe his last chance and he took it. And thankfully was sensible enough to come back...look at him now?boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 2:57 pmI thought he was 18/19!! I think Thomasson is a decent player but probably one who needs to bulk up a little and just play a bit more footy.

I like Thomason. Never hides. Got Robles 6-3 on his debut, was played out of position and brought off but came back stronger. I’m sure he’ll get and take a chance this season. Would keep him around.

*A wild reserve team fixture appears*
Looks like a fairly youthful side taking on Preston (KO 1pm), which isn't surprising considering our lack of first team depth at the minute - we simply can't afford the likes of Brockbank, Thomason, Gordon etc picking up a knock.
Liam Edwards set to feature which is nice to see. Hopefully he can get some minutes v Rochdale in the PJT next week.

I don't know them all but young Burgess has only just done his GCSEs! Tough ask if it's an adult Preston side but let's hope it's a useful experience and they acquit themselves well.
Great to see Edwards back after such a horrible injury. No idea if he'll be good enough for our first team but hope he's fully healed and can max out whatever level of talent he's got without limitation.

He got another injury on his comeback from that one I think.

It was Josh Earl that got injured against Wycombe. Edwards injury was a knee injury from training in Feb 2020 which he’s had complications with, multiple surgeries etc.DJBlu wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 1:06 pmIs this the injury from Wycome away?LeverEnd wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 1:04 pmI don't know them all but young Burgess has only just done his GCSEs! Edwards off at HT, hopefully always part of the plan rather than a recurrence, bless him

Twas apparently Mateusz Hewelt. Polish-born (1996) but Irish-raised, he played with Gethin Jones for Everton kids, was released in 2019 back to Poland, but signed for Bamber Bridge just last month.
