feck off Doyle.
Five fecking chances.

Doyle should've scored that header on 69 minutes. Looks like a nailed on chance.

5-1 would have been nice.

This isn't gonna happen.
Johnstone now putting one wide.

Sides will aim to score first and then sit in against us. We look like we struggle in that scenario. I don’t think our midfield is doing the business personally. It’s a bit flat going forwards. Need Sarce and Sheehan to look more likely in front of goal. But that’s how it goes.

Good work from Doyle in the build up to that last chance. Seems like this is going to be another one of those frustrating matches where we just can't get a goal.
Wonder how this game would've gone if we hadn't conceded such a sloppy goal.

Playing well and losing?
Doyle is trying too hard. Some of his chances he would have battered in last season.

This referee has lost it.
Some seriously poor decisions. Sarce upended and play continues?

Got what we deserved. Dapo poor in defence for their goal. As people say, fine lines.
Their manager will come out and say we are the best they've played, that's all good and well when you have 3 points in the pocket.
Not going to be good enough this season.

Good enough for what? It's entertaining and I doubt we'll go down - but we've been sliding a while now.
Need a win. Might not come in midweek, but we'll see.

Good enough for what? We are losing games to fine margins and that’s probably down to our lack of solidity. But still running Sunderland close away from home is a huge difference to the past few years. You aren’t going to romp through league one as quality is higher.
Re: Malice in Sunderland. Sunderland vs Bolton (A) 25th Sept 21
Disgusting refereeing at the end there. Free kick of Sarcevic not given (pushing with high hands) and then that is never a foul against Doyle. Looks like a penalty to me but given the other way. Looks like the referee didnt want to court controversy at the death. What a joke.
Re: Malice in Sunderland. Sunderland vs Bolton (A) 25th Sept 21
Performance aside for a second, the refereeing – in the last 15 in particular – was absolutely fecking rotten. How he missed nailed-on fouls and easy yellows I'll never know. Turns me right off the game.

This. That's not going to be good enough. We have absolutely battered them second half and come away with nothing. Playing well and losing is a bad sign whatever league you are in. That's 2 in a row.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 5:04 pmGood enough for what? We are losing games to fine margins and that’s probably down to our lack of solidity. That newly promoted bounce has disappeared this week I think! Now we’ll see what they are made of. Got to get Lee back in the side I reckon. Baka straight back in as well when he’s fit.
Re: Malice in Sunderland. Sunderland vs Bolton (A) 25th Sept 21
We're doing our best but really aren't good enough generally to challenge these better teams. We'll keep improving though.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 3:26 pmDefensively once again we are not good enough. Forget top 8 if we keep being so so easy to score against. That goal all round, Dapo, Gordon centre backs all shocking.

We played much better in the 2nd Half. We have earned respect and are a decent side, just short of being among the best in L1. Best opportunity was Doyles header. If only he had left it for Johnston who would have buried it. John made us better.
The game showed me who can manage the step up into the Championship. For another discussion. For now, we need Lee in our midfield and desperately need a fit Baca back.

Losing narrowly to high flying big spending Sunderland is throw our toys out of the pram time?DJBlu wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 5:08 pmThis. That's not going to be good enough. Not like we are getting thumped at home to Port Vale is it?
Nobody wants to lose but some perspective we are the promoted side in this league and two weeks back thumped Ipswich 5-2. Season will have ups and downs but we are going to see plenty more like last two.

Sunderland being better than us has absolutely nothing to do with DJs question. Our passing (especially Gordon's) was absolutely appalling. Clueless, hopeless punts. Shocking. Nobody's fault but our own.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 4:22 pmWe are away at Sunderland. They’ve spent fortunes. And been top end of this league a while. Perhaps they are just a bit of a better team than we were? Like Rotherham.
