He's turning out in Gethin's charity game, so you could get to see him again soon.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 11:15 amTwas ever thus, Tango. Something I hadn't noticed until watching again just now, however, is, on the first goal the way SKD uses his frame and strength to hold off their defender - creating the space for Alonso to get the header in. I don't half miss that lad.

My one and only visit was a crisp New Years Day in the 90s. 4-2 to them if I recall. I managed to miss a Curcic classic straight from the second half whistle due to slow service trying to get warm via a bovril. We played some nice stuff back then, but ultimately lost comfortably. Everyone's second favourite team, the plucky losers

I don't worry about us underperforming with a big away following – just the Family Day home games...

Times two Bruce. .I never made any secret of the fact he was my modern day hero, but there were those who never gave him credit. I'll always remember the words of Alan Shearer on the day we beat Tottenham and Super Kev scored a header at the near postBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 11:15 am

"There were a few heads going in there, but only one was going to get the ball, Kevin Davies" . I was at my son's wedding, giving fifty pences to the kids to keep me updated with the game. Couldn't wait for M.O.T.D...Happy days..

Unchanged first XI from last Saturday - Kachunga stays in against his old team

Kachunga???? Hasn’t done enough to merit a start for me.

Exactly. You could possibly make a case for each of the subs to have started. That said, I think I'd have sacrificed Thomason for Gilks.

Didn't have one last weekend either. Sign of depth, I suppose, and arguably also Declan's proneness to injury.
Aye, we're getting depth now.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:26 pmExactly. You could possibly make a case for each of the subs to have started. That said, I think I'd have sacrificed Thomason for Gilks.
It's his third successive league start, but I suspect this, against his old team, might be his last chance before Isgrove regains that place. I might have made that change for this game, myself, but I'll trust the gaffer.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:28 pmHe might still need to prove he's worthy of a starting place but I think it's a good thing if the players know when they get an opportunity it's not just one shot and out.

Wasn't there some talk about Thomason being the emergency keeper or did I just make that up?Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:26 pmExactly. You could possibly make a case for each of the subs to have started. That said, I think I'd have sacrificed Thomason for Gilks.

Maybe he's banking on an extra 10% against his old club...nicholaldo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:28 pm

Kachunga performed relatively well against Shrewsbury. I'd suspect he's trying to keep a bit of consistency for those that played the last match in the league. Given that a few played in midweek it would seem prudent to be able to swap those that aren't overly fresh, in this case Kachunga, Isgrove, Bakayoko and Gordon.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:45 pmMaybe he's banking on an extra 10% against his old club...nicholaldo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 2:28 pm

I suspect we may end up seeing Bakayoko or Isgrove on for Kachunga sometime in this match.
Not having Gilks on the bench isn't that concerning.
Bit surprised to see Dixon in the orange kit today. Seems quite close to the yellow kit.

Faaark, we should have scored there.

Jesus wept, I know Doyle's not been in the best of form but I think most of us would be putting money on him getting that one in the back of the net.

I said exactly the same at Sunderland. Seems a bit daft.
