I don't have any interest in singing songs about them being inbred or the twitter arguments that will persist pre and post match. That's willy waving. No doubt there will be plenty of idiots too looking for trouble.
By the bye, I was going to use a thread title "Pies are round, not squared", but at least we were on the same wavelength..

I think they're in a slightly false position too, seem to have got lucky and come out the right side of some tight games. I don't think they're as good as Sunderland or Rotherham, say.

I don't think we'll finish miles away from each other.
Newsflash - that's what the best teams tend to do. Find a way to win regardless. I suspect our 'we've played brilliantly and lost 1-0' is merely that we're still a couple of quality players short especially in and around the opponents box. I've seen many teams win the premiership without being the team that dominates possession most weeks.
It's also what plenty of other teams who aren't the best do when they're going through a good/lucky run.
Yeah might be. But on paper they look like a good side and are top. It could all be built on sand but I'm not sure there is much evidence of that. Yet.

For clarity, my "reckon" is they're a good side, probably top 6, probably finish slightly but not too far ahead of us, but not good enough to win it/top 2. I don't think they're as good as Sunderland or Rotherham (who'd be my tips for the top 2) and not seen enough (until Tuesday!) of Plymouth or Wycombe to judge them.

Gethin could be out for longer than his suspension - "he's having an MRI scan today so we will know more soon" - and we could have other players missing v Wigan: “We've had a rough week to be honest, we've picked up one or two injuries in training, but it's just one of those things. It's football and we have to adapt and overcome.”

Seems worrying, Mr Evatt doesn’t sound too up beat. Do we think one or two starters besides Jones have picked up knocks and it’s touch and go as to whether they can play? :?

Sounds like two are out. Definitely seemed a bit low in his interview.

Looking at the training pictures the club have posted
I don’t see Sarcevic in any. Perhaps he’s one who is injured? Would make sense as he had a bad knock at SW apparently.

Three inc Gethin. Iles: “Ian Evatt claims two more first team players have been struck down by injury in the last few days”

Unless it’s a ruse….

Sheehan in for Sarce isn’t too bad. We can afford for Sarce to be injured much more than some others.

Its a chance to find out. We lost loads when Sarce went of on Saturday. The Sarce role involves a lot of hard physical work to make our midfield effective. It leads the press and involves a lot of running but also gets involved in the physical midfield battle. Sheehan can't just float round the edges of games as I think he likes to do. He has to be the lead of the press and also put his body into the midfield battle. Lets see if he is up to that.

I think you're more likely to see Lee be the one tasked with doing that, personally, but agreed someone has to. All the more reason to keep Doyle in for this too. I don't doubt Baka or Kachunga's work rate, but it's not just about trying, you have to know what you're doing.

Lee and Sarce did that Saturday. We're playing with 2 number 8's and that's the role. Hard work. Lee was slightly deeper but either way its a lot of physical work that is demanded. Sheehan came on and couldn't impact the game because he just didn't make those runs or have the same presence. But he's had a week to prepare assuming it is Sarce that's out.

For me our biggest misses are Santos, Dapo, Williams and Sarce. I feel any of those 4 are very hard to replace. Gethin is a big loss too and hopefully his injury isn't too bad.
