Aye Johnston the poor man’s Tim Ream

Tim Ream one of the worst defenders I’ve seen. Johnston is worse. Small, weak, meek. He has not one of the requisite qualities required to be a centre half.

We need centre backs not posers.

We’ve had a whiff of the Owen Coyles all season, now it’s screaming at us. Let’s not make the same mistake. Evatt needs telling that this club needs results not aimless principles and modern football coaching nonsense. We are failing because we lack the basics in key positions. Centre half and centre midfield primarily. We don’t need fancy dans. We need people who can physically compete in these areas.

I’ll give you Johnston, but if you think Santos can’t defend then you have no fecking idea what you’re talking about.

He’s better than Johnston. But he’s struggled this season. I have no idea what he was doing for their second goal. And I don’t think he knows either. I’d give him some benefit of the doubt in that he has no partner. But balls into the box in open play are a huge problem for him. If someone offered money for him I’d take it personally.

He could have given better guidance to his team mates for their second goal, but Thomason was the primary culprit there.

I don’t know whether he’s a leader or an organiser, but individually he’s an outstanding defender.
