Re: Tactics
As has been said ad infinitum on here. The consistent slow play at the back from Evatt's sides was a symptom of things not working in midfield and attack, not a feature he was actively encouraging.
Possession is great. It is partly a defensive feature of Evatt's sides, though, not his offensive ideal.

Re: Tactics
In heralding Kachunga's imminent (not today) return as a "9 or 10", Evatt reveals he now doesn't think Dempsey is a 10...

"He’s [Kachunga] obviously a forward player – he can play as the 10, he can play as the nine. That’s where we see him fitting in.
“I think what we’ve come to learn is if we’re going to play a midfield player [at 10], the best player in that role is Kieran Lee and he is missing.
“I think Kyle (Dempsey), Aaron (Morley) and MJ (Williams) are all pivots, number sixes. But they are all different in that aspect – MJ is more physical but still technical, Kyle is more dynamic and dribbles better, Aaron just has an unbelievable range of passing.
“In terms of number 10s, Kieran is the most experienced option in that role and the best in and out of possession.
“But the way we’re playing at the moment – Dapo (Afolayan), Kieran Sadlier – they are more attacking options but the team seems to function better when they’re in it in terms of possession.
“That’s what we’re looking at and Kacha adds to that role really.”
