Thomason has been very good in that running role imo. Bit Josh Vela.

Henry on for Doyle,
Edwards on for Isgrove.

Win and a clean sheet. We go through.

That'll do pig, that'll do.

Bit late for me those substitutions. Henry and Edwards should have got at least 15mins each.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

Great stuff. That starting team definitely feels more balanced - could understand arguments for Baptiste being dropped but that’s about what I would go with now for the next few weeks. Agreed on Thomason, when he was advanced from Sheehan and Williams he put decent pressure on. Against the next few opponents turnovers up the pitch should lead to good chances.

Scored three, clean sheet and seems like we came through injury free.

Congratulations to the manager and players.

Absolutely! Hopefully that works for the confidence. We played some neat stuff under pressure from a decent side. Got it right tonight Mr Evatt.

Aye. And rest four first-team legs for longer.

Feels like the "first XI" selection and minimal subs were somewhat making a point. Conjecture of course but he did something similar last year: in November/December/January he made far fewer subs than he was allowed (five per game at that point), sometimes only making one. It was as if he'd made up his mind who was in and who was out. And bear in mind that though we did excitingly well in November, we then went W1 D3 L6 until the last game of January, so it sure weren't "if it ain't bust".

Just a theory, anyway. Could be wrong. Either way, those two should have been on earlier tonight.

The best part of the display tonight was that manager seemed to be asking certain players to prove a point. They all seemed to answer that call.

The midfield trio looked good. Doyle scored. Some people on social media are even praising Kachunga tonight.

In terms of "needing one for morale", it doesn't get a lot better.

Midfield looked more balanced - do Lee and Sheehan get a chance to play together or should Thomason stay in on Sunday?

I'd 100% give him another go, if the physical data allows it. If you challenge a young man to deliver for you and he does, then he should get the chance to earn that place going forward. That energy he offers through the middle is really valuable.

Lee and Thomason. I’d like to see the combinations and Thomason today looked very good and brought energy into a midfield that has flagged a bit.

I've only just discovered that this game's tonight. Who the feck's in charge round here? This is an outrage! :whack:
Ghost is a very readable poster, but he's evidently shit at thread-title admin. Not even the right competition - if we're in the FA Trophy things have really swandived...
I have taken the criticism on board and fixed it for you.
