Will they be our Albatross, or will we take the Mick ? No football of our own this weekend to talk about, so I'm starting this one early to get warmed up..Who will get battered..

Agree, we don't stop thinking about tomorrow, but we could've left it until Monday morning....

I suspect that coach travel will be in place for this so you don't have to 'Go your own way'.

There's something In the back of my mind about Tango in the night being Everywhere but it could be just Little Lies which will become Secondhand news eventually. Lets just hope the team Don't stop with the Dreams to make it a Landslide!

Re: Take your Mac to Fleetwood. Away 07-12-21. 7-45.
New month, new Wanderers? After an auspicious start with two wins, October turned bad with four defeats-to-nil and a draw, but the turning of the calendar page heralded another successful November: W4 D2 L2 in all comps. But last November's revival of five straight wins was brought to a juddering halt as soon as the advent calendars went up, with a 6-3 home loss to Port Vale, and December 2020 brought three losses, a draw and a welcome but slightly fortuitous late win at Cheltenham. Nor did January bring immediate relief, Wanderers going LDDLW.
This time last year, a five-game winning run had raised hopes that perhaps this hapless Evatt character might just be able to do something. Now we know he can, and we're all desperate for the New Year sales, but December's an interesting month. After Fleetwood we're off to Accy, then hosting two long-ballers in Wycombe and Morecambe before visiting a Burton side extremely lucky to escape Horwich with a point. There are plenty around who'd accept 1ppg for the month, and I can understand that, but might we get more?
Either way, Fleetwood is an interesting start. Since beating the hapless Crewe immediately after the October international break they've gone LLDLLLLLDL and potted Simon Grayson. "Interim Head Coach" Stephen Crainey, having been with the U23s for four years, promoted them en masse with an 11-change lineup at the Unibol, and the kids were alright, but you imagine some older heads might be back for their rearranged league game tomorrow at Accy; certainly Crainey's first game, a see-saw 2-2 at Wombletown, had more experienced players. Among them will presumably be Jay Matete, the promising young midfielder our very own Brommers has written about: https://bwfcanalysis.wordpress.com/2021 ... ay-matete/

As I said last weekend, with our injury list a point would be good. I wonder if there’s a chance of MJ featuring this month, or even Gethin Jones. MJ we were told last weekend was on the 3 week rather than 3 month side, so that’s next weekend optimistically? Been really quiet on Jones - I’m sure they had said he was out of the protective boot and back in the training ground but I’ve no idea what the ETA is? Sooner we get a right back the better.

We're rushing Adam Senior back from York ASAP, although probably not before the Wycombe game on Dec 18th; wonder if that's the full the bench or to give us a right-back (and thus back-four) option? When we switched to a back four later on Tuesday night, Baps, bless him, looked tortured by their kids, like an overwhelmed supply teacher. Wasn't as bad at Wycombe but they play 3-5-2.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:31 amAs I said last weekend, with our injury list a point would be good. Fleetwood are playing Accrington away tomorrow. Let's hope for a hard game on a heavy pitch to tire them out. They were a 3-5-2 team under Simon Grayson, but have now switched to a four at the back under interim manager Stephen Crainey and secured a respectable 2-2 draw against Wimbledon last weekend. Tomorrow will be a litmus test as to whether Grayson's tactics were holding them back or the players just aren't that good.
Regarding Gethin Jones, his protective boot was taken off over five weeks ago (around the 28th October). The medical staff must be taking it extra cautiously with him to make sure he's 100% recovered but I'm sure he can't be far away, hopefully we'll see him in a matchday squad towards the end of December.

The way our luck has been I'm more inclined to think no news is bad news. Cue story tomorrow than Gethin has lost all the bones in his leg or something.

Splendid response to the thread title. Can't comment on the "Cod Army" it's all "Over my head"sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:07 amThere's something In the back of my mind about Tango in the night being Everywhere but it could be just Little Lies which will become Secondhand news eventually. A protective boot coming off doesn't mean that the bone is fully healed. In fact probably the opposite - that they want it off to get some small movement to help the bone heal.brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 12:16 pmFleetwood are playing Accrington away tomorrow. He saw a specialist on Wed 10 Nov; shortly before, the local paper quoted Geth thusly:brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 12:16 pmRegarding Gethin Jones, his protective boot was taken off over five weeks ago (around the 28th October). https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/19 ... jury-news/The first 10 days to two weeks, I was in a bit of pain. Obviously, I was in the (protective) boot. But as soon as I came out of the boot, I’ve been pain free. But that’s the frustrating part because I feel like I could go out there and run now, but you’ve got to listen to the specialist. I’ve got another specialist (appointment) on Wednesday, so another second opinion. I’m now four weeks in and I’m two weeks away from light jogging on the Alter G treadmill machine. So we’re going to see hopefully if I get the all clear on Wednesday, to maybe progress it a bit earlier than that.
Can't find any update since then. If it went according to previous plan he should have been on the anti-gravity treadmill for a fortnight now. No word of him being on the grass though.

I think I remember evatt saying it was a weird injury more associated with runners than footballers.
Some quotes in here from gethin actually on how he came to realise it was bad.

Might be just one of those where you have to let it fully heal as it is something that could happen again.

A propos of not a lot I see Rotherham beat Stockport 1-0 tonight. I suspect, this year at least, that's likely to demonstrate the difference.

They lost 5-1 to Accrington today with 10 men after 23 minutes, looks like you got your wish!brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 12:16 pmFleetwood are playing Accrington away tomorrow. Let's hope for a hard game on a heavy pitch to tire them out.

I wonder what it feels like to get battered away at Accrington having had a man sent off early on?

The first and last Accy goals scored by our former loanee Ethan Hamilton, the middle one by Liam Coyle – the ex-Liverpool kid we had on trial but passed on.Tails07 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 7:10 pmThey lost 5-1 to Accrington today with 10 men after 23 minutes, looks like you got your wish!brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 12:16 pmFleetwood are playing Accrington away tomorrow. Accy scoring a few might make Jono Coleman more likely to giving up Dion Charles in January.
More immediately, Interim Head Coach Crainey made nine changes from midweek, and one of the two survivors got hooked at half-time; wonder if he'll shove the youngsters back in against us?

Best take your scarves gloves and wellies if the weather forecast of heavy snow in the north west is anything to go by. (if the game is on at all?) Worth checking before you set off...

Which brings to mind an interesting question: if you (dear forum reader) could postpone this game now, presumably till we've more feet in boots, would you do so? Or are we confident enough that we can beat them again and get points on the board?TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 12:38 pmBest take your scarves gloves and wellies if the weather forecast of heavy snow in the north west is anything to go by.
