Proper football game. We look like a stronger unit. Not being bullied for a change. Settled down as the game went on. Lee looking marvelous. Better set pieces. Ipswich are a good side, however if we keep them at bay for the next 20 mins after half time, we can win it wit Dapo.

There's got to be an easier way to meet your needs Worthy.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 3:58 pmDecent 45 for me. Johnston's a liability...they need to stop measuring whether he's comfortable on the ball and attach probes to my sphincter...that'll give 'em the stat they need...
New signings all showed decent moments and we've had two headers at the onion!
And we got in at nil at HT...
They also seem to have at least spoken about defending. No doubt from one of their free kicks where the fcuking line was..

I think the biggest stand out things for me is that the criticisms that were levelled at the side for previous matches this season look to be being addressed. Ball getting moved forward faster (for John's cross), set pieces reaching our players and looking reasonably threatening.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 3:51 pmOur best 45 minutes of football in an absolute age. Setup is right. We aren’t trying to play a high line or play Ipswich off the pitch. Looking to hit on the counter. Proper muck and nettles league one stuff instead of kidding ourselves we are a better team than we actually are.
This has to be the blueprint for the rest of the season.
Only downside is goals. I just struggle to see many in this side. But we have a chance of nicking this 1-0. If we keep a clean sheet it will represent huge progress.
We look faster to attack the opposition and quicker to close down. A nice mixture of this and ball retention game when we're ahead would be nice.

We have to play in this way, not necessarily system but in this sort of manner for the rest of the season. This is proper. It’s actually setting a side up to compete.Prufrock wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 3:57 pmFirst 15 was ropey af.
Shape change, I suspect prompted by injuries and to match them. Good 30 after that. Not a lot in it but we had by far the better sniffs. Baka and Charles give different threats. Shape means we can't press high and worry about midfield legs as we get towards the end but it's suites the match and the oppo. Good call while we get numbers further up and bed in the midfielders.
Got to make the chances count now. There's defo 3 pts there today for us.
Let’s not see this as temporary. This is actual football not powder puff surrender stuff of Tuesday.

Late today, and I seem to have wandered onto the wrong forum
How's Morley been?

Cool.
I don’t think I’ve ever previously seen Santos just knock it out in that sort of situation. Normally backs his ability. Interesting.

Dunno whether it’s just when we are out of possession but Lee looks like he’s playing on the right of a (narrow) front three rather than a midfield trio
Re: Looking for traction to avoid the blues - Ipswich (H), 3pm Sat 15th Jan
Might be a strategy we're playing not to take unnecessary risks, Santos seemingly full of them but quite competent in most of them.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 4:15 pmCool.

I was thinking the same about Lee being really high up the pitch.

Woulda been really funny if Ipswich contesting that drop ball had made Santos accidentally play a through ball rather than returning it to them, as the ref clearly wanted

We don’t know if this formation is temporary but I do wonder if Evatt’s thinking of a Bod-Charles forward line
Also arguably suits (these) wingbacks better. But it does leave Geth at home a bit.

Isn't Bod a left footer?

Dunno. I was thinking target man. Plays on the right for Millwall sometimes.
Charles takes it off Morley’s toe. Talk!!!
Re: Looking for traction to avoid the blues - Ipswich (H), 3pm Sat 15th Jan
Would suspect that a target man is in order to give us a few options in terms of playing long. The link up between Charles and Bakayoko hasn't been great today. I suspect it'll be better with Bakayoko out wide.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 4:21 pmWe don’t know if this formation is temporary but I do wonder if Evatt’s thinking of a Bod-Charles forward line
Last few games we've been crying out for those balls cut back and that was a perfect one. I know he's not getting enough service but that was a terrible decision to deny Morley a shooting opportunity.
Cue the sub for Charles to come off and Baka to go up top with Dapo out wide.
