Yeah, quality touch to end a quality move which purred with menace. Like you, I really, properly enjoyed the third – partly for its timing (killing any "comeback" nerves") but also for its fantastic, clinical, athletic finish. And the fourth was a thing to behold - another quality passing move, pulling them about, close control – long ball, my arse*. Fifth and sixth were just hootingly funny.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 10:50 amIt's difficult to see on the normal highlights just how good Lee's flick into Dapo's path was, for the second. On the Inside Matchday, the camera is behind the Sunderland goal. It's sublime and absolutely makes it.
Also I'm still gushing at Charles' finish for the third...
*First goal – fair enough, now that was a long ball. Second a glorious counter attack - what a pass with the outside of Dapo's foot.

I think there's a bit more to it than that TD...I don't think even in this day and age he's got sacked for a "one-off"...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 10:55 amNorth East clubs may be passionate, but they're also impatient and unrealistic. If their team loses it's "Off with his head" for somebody or other (usually the manager). They never give credit to the opposition being the better team on the day (Saturday a classic example)..No new thing.
They didn't pick up a huge amount of points in January 5 points from 5 games, including a loss to Lincoln of 3-1 at home and a spanking against us, but they also had a few big defeats earlier in the season.
They had a good December where they went top by 2 points on Rotherham and 4 points on Wigan, even though Rotherham and Wigan had some games in hand (1 and 3). Now they're third, Wigan have 4 games in hand, and Rotherham 2 and are points in front, and after weekend, a fair amount of goal difference too...

Ha, I was referring to our game actually Worthy. They have had 12 "permanent" managers since 2010
Including several with a decent track record elsewhere (including Bruce, O'Neill, Advocaat, Allardyce, Moyes, Coleman)
All been ditched as failures -except Sam who walked into England job
And now their Message Boards say they need a proven Big Name - more delusions of grandeur
Who would want to risk their reputation there?
Like Everton, only more so
What goes around may still come around

Sam said in his interview with the BN at the time of the legends game that he could be tempted back one last time but only with a project. He gave an example of a side down on their luck with great potential. I thought then that it sounded like a 'come and get me' to Sunderland.
I'd like to see it happen and if they've any sense in the Mackem boardroom, at the very least Id be sounding him out

Sam is seething over the media portraying him as a quick fix that can't build a team. He'll want to set that right before he's done.

Yes. Thinking outside the box. Actual experienced football managers haven't done much for them have they?

Old Jonny’s best work yet that one. The Sunderland fan counting made it easy though.
