Which signing excites you most?

Post by Dave Sutton's barnet » Tue Feb 01, 2022 4:50 pm

Brutally unfair question. But after a January that only a professionally captious bore could criticise, we have a handful of box-fresh Wanderers designed to take us to the next level. Which of them excites you most?

It's a slightly unfair comparison, considering some have already started paying back the faith and others are yet to be eligible. They also play in different positions (do you want an exciting goalkeeper?) so feel free to interpret the question however you want. You can be excited because a player fills a gaping hole, or because he's precisely the type you want, or because he might have great resale value if he proves a wise buy, or because he's just a gut-warming pleasure to watch, an arse-levitator ripping you out of your seat.

So: go. Vote and explain: who excites you most?

Poll ends next Monday.

EDIT You can only begin to imagine how annoyed I am at misspelling Bodvarsson.

My opinion has little value since I only see highlights and follow chatter. But last month we had three clean sheets and three wins. So I looked to defence and went for the winner of the Ivan Campo lookalike competition, Fossey. All round a brilliant window.

Still a low bar.

Charles for me. Looks really really proper. Horrible to play against, fantastic technique, quick and an eye for a goal. Goalscorers are the hardest thing to find in football and considering he's had no football until this month he's started very well.

V happy with Sadlier and Dempsey too who are proven excellent players at this level.

DadBod has a great pedigree tbf (I was a little meh when we signed him but take the points others have made).

Morley also looks to have a high ceiling to me. Great technique, looks to have a bit of swagger and all the time. A bit of the Ross Barkley about him.

And Fossey has made a very promising start. I'm not as overwhelmed as others, he looks a bit iffy technically to be and will be v interested tonight to see how he does when it's more about the quality of the delivery against a packed defence then it is the pace and power to get in behind and then put it into an area. But that's not to say I don't think he looks good, and I'd be v happy if we could make that permanent.

That only leaves Trafford and Amaechi :D . Was v unsure about the former but he's growing and if he finishes up with more assists than goals conceded I'll take that :D. Amaechi I like a lot but can't see where he fits into this system.

I'm with Monty. Who excites you most is a different question to who is the best footballer, but for me it's Marlon Fossey both ways. Go Fossey.. :oyea:

Charles for me. When Sarc left we were missing someone who seemed to set the tempo for the rest of the squad. He never gives defenders a moments peace and initially he reminded me of Paul Dickov but since he's already bagged a few, then Jamie Vardy is probably and hopefully a better comparison.

Aye, Charles. Really liked the initial look of Xav but I struggle to see him getting much game time. Shame as he would benefit from forward play like Saturday! I think Fossey is a belting little player as well, be very excited if we could sign him.

I think it might be Morley, if only because I suspect he might have the highest ceiling. It's very difficult to choose, though. I do really like Fossey but until he signs a permanent contract my excitment will be tempered.

That fecking clap knocks a few points of DadBod.

I didn't want to fall into the trap of band-waggoning the front row glory boys. For teams to win in any league needs a full team effort and I think, right now we almost have that. So much can go wrong in football that only consistency and 90 minutes of effort by all eleven really win the cigars (probably not the best choice these days). For me, Fossey has the Campo appeal and I'm looking forward to his first goal... :D

I was looking forwards to Flossie's first goal too. On more than one occasion tonight! :-)

Altogether now "Oh Marlon Fossey..."
