That tweet is horrendously misjudged. I thought their club statement last night was poor as well - I get innocent until proven guilty but there was no message that racism will not be tolerated, merely getting caught being racist won’t be. I don’t get it.

Let's see how long it takes their fans to let go of the X File under "Evatt made it up"?

They're currently slating their local police and attacking Evatt. I honestly don't think a conviction will convince some of them now. As far as they're concerned it's a stitch-up.sonicthewhite wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 7:27 pmLet's see how long it takes their fans to let go of the X File under "Evatt made it up"?

As one who attended yesterday's game and witnessed the deplorable behaviour of the Bolton fans both outside and inside the ground we have a genuine concern as to why the police thought it would be a good idea to allow both sets of fans to leave at the same time. Is also OK for a group of supporters to attack a disabled man on his mobility scooter causing him to fall to the floor?
As for stitch up, it's now very apparent that false accusations were made against a couple who were escorted from the ground. Is your manager and club going to apologise for calling them racists?
The person responsible has been identified and has been charged and hopefully will be dealt with accordingly. There is no place for any abuse in football.....the sooner we all take a stand against this, the sooner we can make football grounds a safer place to visit.

So, before we deal with anything else, should we expect apologies from the hundreds of Morecambe fans who suggested that our players and staff invented racial abuse to gain an advantage? Will there be an effort made by Shrimps fans to reach out to BWFC's black players and apologise for their reaction? Our players reported racial abuse and hundreds of Morecambe fans called them liars. Many are still calling them liars, even after an arrest has been made. When should they expect that to stop?Bluebottle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:31 pmThe person responsible has been identified and has been charged and hopefully will be dealt with accordingly. Will your club be taking action against staff members who seemed to also take that line on social media? The Manchester Evening News appears to be taking action against one of its staff (a Morecambe fan) for the same. Will you demand action from your club?

Did they accuse them specifically of being racist?
I can't find evidence of that anywhere.

I think you need to look a little closer. There have been plenty of posts from plenty of posters deploring the behaviour of our resident idiots.Bluebottle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:36 pm
I'm not accusing anyone on this forum..just puzzled why you don't seem to accept that your fans didn't exactly behaved impeccably.

Feel free to read through the 'Shutting down the "Crazy Corner"' thread.
Are you going to substantiate your claim that our manager and players accused that couple of racism?

I spent most of last night and part of today helping your fans get in touch with the right people at Bolton to make complaints and help identify perpetrators.Bluebottle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:36 pm

What have you done to ensure your club takes a stronger stance as regards the racial abuse our players suffered? What are you doing to ensure your fans who accused racially abused black men of lying are held to account and properly apologise? What are you doing to ensure that your staff members who seemed to make similar accusations are dealt with?
What are you personally doing apart from coming on here?

I don’t think anyone is under any illusion that our fans or a small proportion of them are absolute idiots.Bluebottle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:36 pm

However, the abuse and racist abuse directed towards our players and bench is a completely different thing. And subsequent behaviour of your club and denials of racism and suggestions from your fans and seemingly your officials it was a ‘ploy’ is absolutely despicable. Racism and racism denial are the same thing and as a club you clearly have a problem. It needs a full investigation and probably some penalty.
I have no doubt whatsoever that should that have happened in our ground our owners would have immediately issued a full and frank apology and taken every step to deal with it.
The way your fans and club has behaved suggests there is a systemic issue here.

It seems that regardless what we both say to counter our arguments we will have to agree to disagree....and hope that both clubs can come out of this with some sort of dignity. I wish your club well and hope when we meet again there won't be a repeat.

So basically you've done nothing and intend to do nothing about your own club's behaviour.Bluebottle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 11:02 pmIt seems that regardless what we both say to counter our arguments we will have to agree to disagree....and hope that both clubs can come out of this with some sort of dignity. In that case, off you trot on your high horse...it's looking increasingly like a Morecambe Beach donkey.

I'm prepared to bet I've done more to help Morecambe fans this weekend that you have. The same goes for people working for BWFC. If you're going to sort your club out you won't do it posting on here, but that'd require actual work.Bluebottle wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 1:20 amTell you what..you sort out your club and I'll go sort out ours....I know who's got the easier job...
Have a look in the mirror and weigh up whether you're achieving anything posting this nonsense and "whataboutisming" racism.
If enough people take a stand we can fix problems within the game, but if you can't be arsed then you lose the right to criticise anyone else. Jog on.

First thing I would do in Morecambe shoes is sort that stand out…it’s ludicrous you can have idiots sat having ‘banter’ so near to the away dugout. If they aren’t willing to control who sits there, stop people sitting there. For a professional club it’s a bit amateur to say the least.

Yeah - that picture on their website, of the Santa bloke about 2 ft away from Baps, who's getting tugged back, clearly trying to get his money's worth, isn't good. Clearly, the unflappable Baps doesn't look happy.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 8:56 amFirst thing I would do in Morecambe shoes is sort that stand out…it’s ludicrous you can have idiots sat having ‘banter’ so near to the away dugout. As for their stewarding in general, in the scheme of things, doesn't look too dissimilar to ours v Sunderland. Just too few of them to deal with what's in front of them, let everyone out at once (which we did v Sunderland)....Probably good they don't have an away end that can fit 6,000 in...
