You'd still prefer to be doing it in July/Aug and making adjustments earlier though? We couldn't but surely as manager you'd rather to be able to do that? Which makes the task post Jan harder and in March harder still?

I wasn't judging its chance of success, but rather suggesting if we miss out, then getting in early for next season is a benefit, for what is a better, settled squad, which is something we haven't had in forever.

100%. Regardless of the division we are in next season we will be in much better shape than we have been in any other window as we go into the summer.

Obviously there's loads to do on the defence and we will still look for top quality anywhere else we can get it, but if we can get them drilled properly over the next dozen games we should be able to start strongly next season.

That being said, Bolton currently against a side without a win in 2 month and we're looking good so far. Morley and Dempsey standing out with some good moments.
