I'm getting the impression at the minute that our high press isn't as active as it used to be in those matches in the good run. Almost as if we're sitting off them and not forcing the mistakes.
You can hear Evatt shouting patience. There was one point Plymouth had a the ball a good 3 minutes before Dion was released to press.

That's fine if its intentional. I'm fairly confident we have a match plan that doesn't strain us first half for a negative effect second half, its just something that looks noticeable, especially in most first halves.

There's an air of flat track bully about us. When we're on the front foot, it's quite compelling. No pressure on MF and defence and it's almost bound to look good. This is then held up as the exemplar. For me the exemplar is how we perform in tighter games and when we're a bit more up against it and actually you need some defensive acumen. Jones makes the defence a better defence. He doesn't make Johnston a better defender.
I think for us to go up we're just looking to be effective. Parkinson made good use of being effective by having a few standout players (Madine, Beevers/Wheater, Le Fondre, Morais). Football didn't look as good or as effective as Evatt's style and I certainly think we've got a better side now than we had with Parkinson, but the critical thing is how effective it is over the course of the season. I get the impression under Parky that grinding out results was the order of the day, under Evatt I don't think the same is true and we struggle to grind out results. We're either playing teams off the park or struggling to make headway.

Plymouth have about 5 defenders pressing us when we're trying to clear the ball. It's almost like our side is just penned into our own half here.

Great reaction save by their keeper to deny Charles there.

Sadlier's composure seems to have settled the side somewhat.

Not for me. The tempo is still quite high and everyone seems to be putting in the yards. Whether they've mentally switched off is another story, and i'm sure they're partly feeling that way but I still get the impression that they're wanting to do well, unlike our 2018/19 season where it was players on holiday every week.

Round the grounds...

L Ipswich 0-0 Pompey - Ipswich dominating the ball but only one effort each on target
L Shrewsbury 1-1 Oxford - stubborn Shrews equalise and are having the better of it
L Sunderland 0-0 Crewe - Sunderland having twice as much ball but only two efforts on target, neither of them this half; Sunderland makes three subs in four minutes
L Wycombe 0-0 Rotherham - from somewhere above the clouds, the ball begs for mercy
L Sheff Wed 6-0 Cambridge - looks like a home win there

This is like the Morecambe game, plenty of good attacking play but no goals to show for it. Think 1-0 down is a bit of a harsh scoreline as it stands.

My gut is telling me there’s no equaliser here for us unlike Tuesday. Come on lads!

Likewise. I think this'll be our season ending here. That chance from Baka is probably the best we'll get.

Fossey coming off injured isn't a good sign.

Dang it, Sadlier could've been through. Come on Bolton.
