Was that the worst pitch we've played on this season? Didn't look it to me, commentary suggesting it was though.
Burtons pitch made that look like a carpet. Between the state of some of the pitches and the referreeing it’s been rank amateur this year.

L1/L2 you have to play on these pitches. No point pretending we can only play on Prem pitches.

So, the mighty Whites beat bottom of the league, Crewe, by scoring in deep injury time and our fans invade the pitch.....hmmmm.

That was pretty pish. Back to square pegs in round holes. Defended well and nicked it at the end. Better than not doing that but they are pretty dreadful.

Jones is back next match (2weeks not 1!), so that helps the square peg, round holes point. Much tougher opposition mind. And Rotherham have contrived to get walloped by salop at home so they will have the league title back in their sights.

Sadlier has not impressed me.
Not one inch of slack cut for a man playing out of position as emergency cover. Attaboy.

Who left Rotherham because he didn’t want to play wing back…and was playing wing back. Great hit for the free kick for the goal.

My point was that the system wasn’t working as we were playing people out of position like Sadlier. It wasn’t working just bunging him at RWB.

Which we might not have had to do but for Fossey's injury..

I'm disappointed with Sads. Not because of him, but because we seem to be doing with him predominantly the things that made him want to leave Rotherham. Deserves at start in his natural habitat.

Yeah. What I’ve seen of him he’s not a wing back nor a number ten. He needs to play in a front three. Hasn’t had the chance yet.

Aye, bet there’s not many in our squad with as many games at championship level. I suspect / hope he’ll find his feet in the team before the end of the season and start next season. Maybe he’s the Dapo replacement already…

There was no other option but the system we played. As much as there was a "square peg in round hole" it would have been worse trying to fit one of them in at right back.

The issue today wasn't the system or the players, it was just lethargy and lack of mentality. It was a proper "nothing to play for" performance, which is ridiculous with 8 games to go.

Obviously if we play like that against Wigan we will get battered, but you have to hope that having Geth (and probably Dempsey) back in and the size of the match will see them play up a bit.

Clever from Kacha to earn that freekick leading to the wonderful free kick from Sadler who is definitely not a RWB. From what I had seen without watching it back, Kacha was fouled earlier in the move but kept going to near the 18 then tumbled over. Very smart player. The goal saved my Saturday as I thought we really struggled to control the game. We find it tough playing against sides with less skill but who play with heart and desire. First half we were poor, 2nd half a bit better. Never thought we would find a way past their keeper who made a worldie of a save from Dapo header. Baka is so under-rated but is direct and causes problems. At the moment he is our best forward threat. We need Dempsey to get fit. He makes us stronger in midfield.

Just got in to a great result. At one point I thought the lack of kettle action would come back to haunt me but Baka saved the bacon.

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

There can't be many clubs that have scored more late goals than we have this season; it's a really good habit to have. And although it might now be meaningless it's also important that we keep winning as many matches as we can, just from a psychological standpoint - winning mentality, etc. - so it's good that we've picked up another three points no matter how unconvincingly.

My opinion of Bakayoko's general ability is quite low and my suspicion is that he might eventually prove to be something like another Gnahoua - an average player benefitting from being introduced deep into the second half when we're either chasing a result or comfortably on top - but he keeps scoring and I can't criticise that. Long may it continue.

Oh, and I think we should probably close the season out playing a 4-3-3. It seems to me to be the most natural fit for the players we have currently available to us.
