That’s going to please the Pompey fans…
Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!
I think Dibs mentioned him as a comparison with the Plymouth guy. I.e. that's how good the Plymouth guy is. With a question but suspect he'd be out of reach too, fwiw.

Yep, look I’m no brommers and I have to google most of our transfer links, but I noticed the Plymouth keeper in team of the season- thought he had a good game at our place. He might be out of our reach finance wise (https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/ ... 039250.amp) but I’d bet he would rather play for us next season.

Why? He was born in Devon, joined Argyle at 11, went to secondary school (an independent boarding school) in Plymouth, broke into Argyle's first team at 18. I can't imagine he's desperate to move to Lancashire, not least to a team who finished below his.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 9:36 amI noticed the Plymouth keeper in team of the season- thought he had a good game at our place. He'll certainly be thinking about his next move, but it won't be to us.

Would argue we have a better shot at promotion than Plymouth. We’re surely a step up club wise as well?
Wouldn’t argue that it appears he is onto bigger and better things.

I think he'd likely be looking for a move to the second tier if he was to leave.

Not sure either is a waterproof argument. Plymouth finished a win from the play-offs, we were 10pts back. They beat us twice last season without us scoring; in one of those games we were utterly abject and, if rumours are true, we can surmise he heard through the dressing-room wall as our manager and captain had a set-to. Their average attendance of 13,130 is barely 2k below ours. And our manager's strongly linked with another job, whereas when theirs left last season, the No.2 stepped up and continued the good work.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 11:39 amWould argue we have a better shot at promotion than Plymouth. And that's before you add in the homeboy aspect. We'd hardly be the sort of possibility to have him uprooting after living his entire life in Devon. To Devonians, Plymouth is a big place; twice the size of second-biggest Exeter, three times the size of third-biggest Torquay. Not the sort of gravitational pull that might have you ejecting to Bolton.
I'm not sure they'll do as well as us this season. I'm not sure they're quite as "big" a club (whatever than means) as us in the national scheme of things. But I'm strongly confident that he wouldn't consider us a step up.
God, summer's long, innit?

Liverpool the first of the local PL clubs to announce their departures. I’m not expecting us to go in for Origi, but there were a few interesting names released:
https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/liverp ... departures
Ben Woodburn - predominantly a left winger. His career seems to have fizzled out after being tipped for big things. Still only 22 though. Spent this season just gone on loan at Hearts, where he made 30 appearances and chipped in with 3 goals and 2 assists. Most memorably scored this screamer on his debut for Wales aged 17
Sheyi Ojo - another winger, turns 25 this week. Spent this season on loan at Millwall (18 apps) where I’m told he did well before getting injured in January. A potential Dapo replacement if the star man should depart perhaps?
A few kids as well who might be B Team targets:
Luis Longstaff (21) - another winger who was on loan at Queens Park with Darcy and Connell this past season
Elijah Dixon-Bonner (21) - a centre-mid but played as a centre forward against us in the pizza cup, scored their goal. Wore gloves in October… Played 64 minutes when Liverpool beat Shrewsbury 4-1 in the FA Cup 3rd Round in January.
Sean Wilson (19) - right back who also played against us in the pizza cup

Didn't Evatt say a few weeks back that we had a couple already done, we were just waiting for the right time to announce them?
Who do we reckon those are then?

I'd imagine they're free transfers, and quite possibly not for the first team.

I wonder how many of those Burnley and Watford players have done a Reo Coker type 'I'm too good...', yet will similarly find themselves spending Saturday afternoons watching Four in a Bed next season?brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:57 pmhttps://www.premierleague.com/news/2637596

Are there still people on Twitter pretending to be ITK about us signing Mark Noble this summer? No matter how many times he says he's retiring that name on the released list is bound to get someone excited.
