Bod had a minor foot injury not expected to keep him out at Ipswich.

Sheehan and Isgrove both back in full training.

It’s good news on Josh and Issy.

I just worry this will deter Evatt from signing the higher quality midfield and wing back option we need.

Happy JDB wasn’t out with anything serious. Sounds like Dapo made a nuisance of himself as well, serious options up front…but Sadlier might be the man for the goals. Lad can finish!

Doubt it would make a difference. Not like Evatt would be surprised by this news...

I guess my worry is he isn’t because he feels we don’t need them.

And that part may well be correct :-)

End of the day, he knows what he's got to play with. We know "the goal" is Prem in five, so he does that with what he has or he says it's not realistic...

I think we're also at a point where we need to consider the finances.

With Sheehan and Isgrove I'd say we have a 23-man first-team squad (including goalkeepers and Thomason).

2 GK: Traf, Dixon
6 CB: Geth, Rico, Johnston, Toal, Aimson, Iredale
6 CM: MJ, Morley, Dempsey, Tomo, Lee, Sheehan
4 WB: Bradley, Sadlier, Isgrove, John
5 CF: Bod, Baka, Charlies, Dapo, Kacha

(again, we could argue about position, but it's a headcount)

So that means that unless/until we have injuries/suspensions, we will have five players in the stands each game. And not players like Liam Gordon who presumably don't cost much, or ones like Baptiste on the wind-down. That's not ideal for a club that lost £1.5m in its most recent accounts, despite a £900k government handout, and has had two or three big transfer windows since.

Now, I'm not saying the squad is perfect – truth be told, I'd like two more myself. But it may now be about acceptable wage wastage. Yes, we could loan out Thomo, and maybe Izzy isn't on much, or Toal, etc. You can pick round the edges of it but we now have a squad of quality, and expensive assets will remain unused each matchday. I can understand fans' concerns, considering (1) the firefight that was last Oct-Dec (2) somewhat shallow choices at wingback and (3) the ongoing lack of a midfield dominator. I'm just saying that we can't keep throwing money at it. I don't know where the line is but it feels like we're toeing it.

Credit to the dude at the back of the Lofty who was celebrating before it even passed the keeper's glove.
