The lad from Norwich has had most first team training exposure so far I’m reliably told.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:08 amStanley is the one the coaches are supposedly very excited about. What I understood was that the lads who were involved in the Cup, Stanley and Carty were the ones who'd had the privilege thus far, but I can't say I know for certain.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 8:58 amI didn’t know that. I knew Connor Stanley had been drafted up on occasion, but not Carty too. Makes sense of course, fluidity of personnel.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who does.

Khumbeni - could be lack of cover in that 'MJ' position?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:41 amThe lad from Norwich has had most first team training exposure so far I’m reliably told.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:08 amStanley is the one the coaches are supposedly very excited about. Rated very highly by those who worked with him at Norwich and think he’s impressed significantly here. I think you are right that he would be handy given our lack of cover in there.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 11:54 amKhumbeni - could be lack of cover in that 'MJ' position?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:41 amThe lad from Norwich has had most first team training exposure so far I’m reliably told.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:08 amStanley is the one the coaches are supposedly very excited about. I actually meant that he may be getting training time because he fills a hole other players don't - but yeah, if he's good enough, he could step in, that's the point. Notable he's been on the bench twice already. Maybe he'll get some decent minutes - perhaps even a start - against Crewe, see where he's at.

Yeah I get you. I think you are right. Over and above ability if you were keen to have one moving up that’s a position you’d try to move faster on for sure.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 12:07 pmI actually meant that he may be getting training time because he fills a hole other players don't - but yeah, if he's good enough, he could step in, that's the point. That position probably also needs less "content" "programming". You basically stand at the back of midfield, try to get the ball back, then give it short to someone stood nearby. If a centre-back sprints past you, you prepare to drop in. Beyond that it's all fine tuning.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 12:35 pmYeah I get you. I think you are right. None of which is to decry what defensive midfielders do, by the way. Just that you probably don't need to know as much about patterns of play etc. Get ball from foe; give ball to friend.

Re: B Team Thread 22/23 Season
I'm happy to look to the Bs for depth if it comes to it. When Khumbeni arrived he was one of the ones I had the most hope for.
It's not a solution to our present issues, though. If we had an 11 capable of finishing at the top of the league, but lacked squad depth, then players like Khumbeni could be talked about as solutions. Right now we have decent depth, but we need a handful of top lads in to lift us and get us out of this division.
I like the look of a few of the Bs, but if we end the window with them in the first team conversation (in the short term) then we've not done enough.

He's back.
Bs gaffer Matt Craddock: "Although game time was limited for Matty, his learning opportunities off the pitch has been a valuable experience and an important part of his development. It’s good to have him back to work on the next step."

Re: B Team Thread 22/23 Season
Bs playing Huddersfield. No Beck or other first-teamers.
XI: Hutchinson, Conway, Khumbeni, Toure, Tutte, Stanley, Carty, Grivosti, Sithole, Tweedley, Senior
"Looks like Tutte is playing as a wide centre-back. He played in the same role in the second half against Blackpool last time out."
Subs: Litherland, (Danny) Jones, Yoro, Sharples, Kamara
Nice to hear Trafford, Santos, Baka and Kacha watching
1-0 down at the break but played well first half

Reader, they lost 2-1, Gez Sithole halving the arrears to no avail.
Re: B Team Thread 22/23 Season
Taking a leaf out of Aston Villa's books. The official chat is reporting that Connor Stanley scored TWO goals direct from a corner in todays game!

Interesting to see that Khumbeni scored - and was later replaced by a trialist.

Re: B Team Thread 22/23 Season
Lost 2-0, one in each half - a pengy and an oggy.
Aimson went off in first 10 minutes, replaced by Eric Yoro, who was later replaced himself with Arran Pettifer - usually a midfielder but has already filled in at wide centre-back.
Meanwhile Toure gave away the penalty and was yellow-carded. Senior was also booked. Not a good day all round at the back, by the sounds.
