October

Post by bw@bw » Mon Sep 26, 2022 11:39 am

October could be a pivotal month. We have 8 matches – 7 league and 1 pizza cup.
5 of our7 league games are against teams in the bottom half of the table. This should be an opportunity to gain some ground.
With the top 4 all at 2 points per game already, we need to avoid slip ups and ideally get at least 15 points in the month. Tough but doable?
It is beginning to look a bit like last season at the top.
What goes around may still come around

It seems a bit ridiculous that we've got 8 fixtures in October and only 2 fixtures in November. Surely there is plenty of flexibility to get League One games in the calendar in November. The world cup doesn't get going until the latter half of November so its not like that's a particularly relevant factor at this level.

Yes, it'll be a tough month. Mainly due to fixture congestion. We've only really got one team in the upper echelons of the league so its not like we're playing against the top teams (as it stands, that'll be prone to change).

Good spot, no that would be an extra game. So 3 games with the first in November being the FA cup game.

There. Are. No. Easy. Games. In. This. League.

I don’t really think it matters every week is a battle. You can’t bet against Lincoln (who scored 6 last game away) beating us then Barnsley too.

Just got to focus and do the business week by week. When we lose a game try to limit it to just one. Historically we have issues with one loss becoming three. And we’ve even seen that this season. Need to not let that happen.

Agree mate. But, ideally we get 21 points from 7, not 15. :-)

Any word on the Pompey game? If November's as light for them as it is for us, then it'd make sense to squeeze it in, no?
May the bridges I burn light your way
