Something strange is occurring on Saturday (a football match) - Bolton v Lincoln (15:00) H - 1 Oct 2022

Good result and it sounds as though we were solid enough.

Slightly disheartening how good this division is again, as we’re not gaining any ground on the top sides. It means pretty much every game against the lesser sides is must win, and games against the top 8 are almost must not lose if we’ve any chance of automatics.

As a side note, I reckon Declan John will leave in January. He’s not even making the bench and Beck could well move ahead of him as reserve lwb.
Fair chance that John and Dapo both leave in January. What we do with those wages will be interesting.

Dapo I think will get plenty of game time between now and Jan, whereas if Beck is any good I can’t see John playing much at all.

Early days of course, but I'd say the top 8 was set already.
Interesting - yeah you’d expect those to all want to be there. Three relegated teams at the back of the pack. And it excludes MK, Wycombe, Oxford - all only just above the relegation dots.

I still think Shrewsbury might be a dark horse because Cotterill can get them buggardly to beat. They don’t score enough but if they found a striker they might be an outside bet for the playoffs.

I think the problem is he is someone people have watched. And he’s not playing. And getting games here and there isn’t probably enough for him or us IF someone will put some cash down.

If he was undroppable it’s different. But right now I can’t see him fancying it if he has the chance to go elsewhere.

Maybe I’m wrong. You look at JDB who obviously loves it here and I reckon will do what he’s asked and whatever is needed but he’s towards the latter stages of his career. Or at least the beginning of the latter phase. Dapo though must surely be a bit frustrated.

Not top ten in team knowledge stakes granted, but I'd say forecasting Dapo leaving is a bit of an assumption given on what he's done for us already. Everybody has bad periods (look at Sterling for England right now!) and if I were Evatt I'd think getting shut (unless he gets any selling pressure from the board) would be far from mind. He's built a decent squad to compete at this level, but we have to maintain it and rotation is the only way to keep everyone happy.

If Iredale puts in many more performances like yesterday's then lwb's going to be up for grabs.

That throw in for our second looks really dodgy! Did he have a tenner on 2-0?
Cheltenham have Ryan Jackson, a long throw specialist, so he won't be giving us much. Last year it was Tozer, so might be a clue.

Aye, very ordinary. Peak Dec John is still our best left wing back, but there’s something amiss there it would seem.

Can’t find a replay of the Kachunga chance to change my mind on it.

Squad wise we are lacking replacements good enough for traf and Bradley. Suspect Sadlier will get a go at right wing back this month if Bradley needs a rest.
