Handball ref? V Cheltenham away, 4th Oct, 7.45.

Where fellow sufferers gather to share the pain, longing and unrequited transfer requests that make being a Wanderer what it is...

Apart from Trafford the rest have been utterly shocking.

We deserve nothing and have got nothing.

Nothing to take from this performance other than Evatt has to never ever pick that starting lineup again. Never ever ever again can we play non wing backs in such crucial positions. It’s not an option.
So if we assume Bradley needed a rest. And let's suppose for a minute, that Beck's not quite there yet. Which wing backs that we don't have, would you suggest he started with?

I'm not the one you're asking but if it were up to me I'd have changed the formation - a back four with regular full-backs and a front three.

Match stats has us at 3 shots, 0 on target.

Pathetic performance. Poor decision making I suspect. Lots of aimless hoofing to nobody. 62.2% possession to do the sum total of sod all.

Thank you and good night. If you can't win, don't lose. Pretty sickening with about 8 mins to go. Poor by us.

You're allowed a go, too! Yes that was the point I was angling at :-) We have to have a plan other than "Bradley"...because if he got injured, we'd be fooked.

Still 6th.
Looking at the top 4, we'll not be troubling them, but the last 2 playoff places look up for grabs.

I'm wondering whether 1 of those 3 shots is counting the one from Morley which hit the roof of the stand....

Well I’ve said all season this is an issue. A big one. And Bradley has covered it up a bit.

It’s still an issue. Jones is never ever a wing back. And Iredale isn’t either. So you either change the system or you put Sadlier in and tweak how you play a bit.

I’d have changed the system because we absolutely looked awful after five minutes and I’d called it before the game. No outlet.

Yes the performances were all to a man sub par. Nobody bar Trafford takes anything good from that game. But when you setup like that it just hands the impetus to the other side and sometimes it’s hard to ever get going.

Tonight is a massive blow because the rest of the top 8 won’t lose games like this too often. It shows our vulnerability. We are on a good run yet throw it away with an abject performance.

We have these sorts of dire games in us and I suspect that’s our problem. Others can just keep winning. Maybe once again we have to play too well and work too hard for our wins and can’t keep it going.

As bad a performance as I’ve seen since the bleak days of Ken. I hope it’s a one off. We brought sadlier on but stuck with the formation - I think that was an error. Bakayoko and Kachunga brought feck all as well.

From what I saw, Sadlier barely improved it. Now that could be because the pattern was pretty well established, but I'm not sure Sads changed it much to any great effect.

There's a number of players that just haven't delivered this season. I don't class Kachunga as one of those as I think generally he's been quite good this season in assisting the play, not quite the finishing. Bakayoko on the other hand looks lost when he comes on lately.

Did anyone on here think ‘oh good, Kachunga is coming on he will get us a goal’? He just fell over trying to win free kicks / pens…

No, but I wasn't convinced any of the others would either tbf.

Well yeah the problem is Sads isn’t a wing back either. He’s just more progressive than Jones.

A 433 would have made more sense tonight.

If you can’t field the players needed to make a system work you have to change what you play to suit what’s available.

Yep, we could’ve played a nice 433 that would likely have given us a much better chance of winning.

Traff

Jones Santos Johnston Iredale

Williams Thomason

Dempsey

Sadlier Charles Dapo

Setting up differently would have given them something to think about as well. Too stubborn at time Evatt.
