We didn't go behind until we changed to a back four but I'll let you off on this minor point

I'm going back and watching it again

I actually thought Morley played really well towards the end. Sadlier and Sheehan also looked more incisive than Charles and Dempsey.

Superb.
Again we were under-par for the majority of the match but we deserved that for our dominance in the last twenty minutes. Scoring so deep into injury time after so much time wasting felt even sweeter.
Up to fifth, five points clear with a match in hand.

Morley's corner we scored off, after Ireland's hadn't been doing much. He's off-form, is Moz, but still the best set-piece taker we have.
Or is he? Because Sheehan could be - excuse me while I reach into the Cliche Bag - like a new signing. I really thought he made the difference by just passing it forward. Sounds simplistic and daft and maybe it is but time and again he just passed it forward. Including the one to Bradley which forced the corner from which...
Kudos on the goal also to Sadlier, up like a salmon at the near stick.

Don't forget Baka, his challenge gets the ball towards Bod.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 10:01 pmMorley's corner we scored off, after Ireland's hadn't been doing much. He's off-form, is Moz, but still the best set-piece taker we have.

Really need to sort out a few things. Kachunga and Charles aren’t up to it. They slow us down too much and lack the quality.
We need to get Sadlier and JDB and Dapo on the field in their best positions. Sheehan noticeably made a difference but probably too early to start him.
433 for Saturday and stop the nonsense wing backs plan. I think we can then if needed go 424 as we did towards the end today.

Sheehan was so much better than Dempsey, hopefully he can play a big role for us.

Oh for sure. And Bod, of course. But on Sheehan. per WhoScored he made 16 passes in his 23 minutes on the field (for comparison, Thomason made 20 in his 66 minutes, Dempsey 21 in his 74). Of those 16, 13 were forward: and just 3 backward. That's the kind of mind we need in the middle. To keep progressing us. To see the runs. To make the difference.

I'd like to think Charles might particularly benefit from Sheehan's directness.

Yeah, both *could* play. We have options.
I genuinely don't know (yet!) what XI I'd pick on Saturday, and that's not all good. Some of it is players showing promise, but some is players off the boil. I don't know about formations, either. There's more questions than answers. We seemed to switch to a back four early in the second half but we remained ineffective and only really came into it when Burton sat back on their lead and abandoned any pretence of intent. And some of the Hail Mary changes we've made ask questions about the personnel who were on when it all went wrong. We were losing 1-0 when Dapo went off; at Accy, we were losing 2-0 when Bod had gone off. MJ didn't play a part in either comeback - is he now cast aside? Kacha was part of the comeback at Accy but sacrificed here - where does that leave him? And who exactly plays in the back four anyway?
The 4-3-3 that turned Accy from 0-2 to 3-2 was
Traf; Jones-Santos-Johnston-Iredale; Thomason; Dempsey-Lee; Kacha-Charles-Dapo
The 4-3-3 that turned Burton from 0-1 to 2-1 was
Traf; Bradley-Jones-Santos-Iredale; Morley; Sheehan-Lee; Baka-Bod-Sadlier
...so there's only four outfielders figured in both comebacks. Which is weird...
Anyways, questions to ponder. Still buzzing off winning. Would like it to keep happening. How, I don't know...

Evatt: “Now we have got everyone fit and available, we are able to flip between systems and formations. We can constantly evolve and change during a game and make it difficult for the opposition to manage what we are doing because they will have a set gameplan for us being 3-5-2. If we switch to 4-3-3 for a period of time, which we did for 25 or 30 minutes, it can ask different questions and we can switch back in game as well."
