January 2023 Transfer Window
It's December tomorrow ( ) so not long to go now before the January transfer window opens.
First rumour is that it looks likely Conor Bradley will be staying with us beyond January:
...and I've taken a look at some forwards we may be interested in to give some much needed impetus to our attack.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I think that’s right for Liverpool - got a bit giddy in September and thought he was ready to move up. He’s been a bit indifferent along with the team since and I think a year here will do him good.
Some interesting forwards - Cole Stockton would offer something different and we are moving into cheap purchase territory now with 6 months left. Jen bison would be a good one - this lad Sheff U have at the World Cup for Senegal might be key to whether he can go out on loan - they may struggle to keep him by the sounds of it.

Mr Evatt is indicating that the loan market may very well be plundered in the upcoming window. We already have three on loan, how many can we have in a matchday squad ?
People haven't got a good word for you, but i have T**T.

Santos “not close to returning”, and Jones out with a glute tear - we could do with loaning a decent defender PDQ in January.
Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
According to The 72 website, Alan Nixon has us linked with striker Danny Ward from Huddersfield. This is the same Danny Ward we had as a youngster before selling him on for around £1m back in 2011. He is not a prolific goalscorer but played most of his career in the Championship. A hard working forward that would be a step up from what we have at the moment. https://the72.co.uk/2022/12/18/huddersf ... wanderers/

Tidy player. Was always a little disappointed that we got rid. Not sure whether he's the answer to our problems right now though - if I recall correctly, he's the type to cut in from wide as opposed to going through the middle and, as you've said, not exactly prolific...

Not sure who you mean. If you're talking about Kyle Walker, then no, not at all. For one thing, Walker is a wing-back, Ward is a forward. For another, Walker is right-footed, and thus will generally try to run to the by-line to get crosses in, where Ward is left-footed and would generally try to cut in from the right flank, targeting the 18-yard box to get a shot in himself.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 1:51 pmA la Lyle Walker?truewhite15 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 11:44 amTidy player. We missed put on Barkhuisen when he opted for Derby, Ward is of similar ilk? I could see him as a wide striker in the 4-3-3 formation. Where would he fit in out current 3-5-2 one?

Isn’t one of our main problems not being able to finish? Danny Ward wouldn’t seem to solve that one.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I only watch Bolton and England games so can't comment on league, but Walker quite often cuts in from the right and delivers with his left. A la meant that, not that he would make a striker. Sorry if I confused.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 2:14 pmNot sure who you mean. If you're talking about Kyle Walker, then no, not at all. Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
I read he had 14 goals in the championship last season - not bad? Experienced forward who knows where the net is would seem like a good shout - Bodvarson hasn’t got going this season at all.

Whilst it would seem like Dad Bod hasn't really got going I think the stats would suggest otherwise. Transfermarkt has him down as 2 goals in 16, which sounds crap but when you look at the minutes it's 1 goal every 275 minutes which is respectable.
When you take cups into account it's 6 in 21 games and a goal every 145 minutes so a goal every match and a half. Again better than our collective opinion may suggest.
His league form is the standout and that's likely to be had in small chunks. Given he's had injuries I think it's a respectable return. It looks like he's underperforming but I suspect we'd be okay when he does hit form. No reason to be looking for a replacement.
Danny Ward would be an interesting one. Would be nice to see him given a go but I'm not so sure it'd be at the expense of another one of our forwards.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
There are always different ways to look at things. In terms of our League campaign, Bod's scoring a league goal once every 2.5 months. Baka once every 5. For whatever reasons...That there is mitigation, ultimately doesn't help you win leagues (not that I'm expecting to win this one). Not advocating we get shut particularly, but a bit like some other signings (Dempsey springs to mind), they seem to often have "niggling injuries." Someone needs to get the Bradford factor out.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
Aye, that’s what I mean. I think JDB is our best forward but for whatever reason he’s not got going in the side this season. Dempseyis definitely in the frustrating category as well, and if we’re serious about going up we need an upgrade in most areas of the side.
Out wise BAkayoko would be one we could move on - Thomason’s injury probably saves a midfielder being shipped out. Declan John is surely out as well.

Re: January 2023 Transfer Window
A striker who scores or one who can create would add a lot. As would a midfield player who can get about the park and has some physical presence. Plus a wing back and a centre half.
We aren’t signing 4 but those are the areas I think we need and likely will only get two. If that’s the case I’d opt for centre half and centre mid as I think most likely to be able to improve in those areas.
Danny Ward doesn’t fill me with huge confidence it has to be said. We’ve already had an ageing Huddersfield cast off who cost a lot more than he’s been worth. Not another please.
