No Ramifications on the Rams. Home v Derby County, Tues. 27-12 22 3-0'clock
Nearly a hundred miles is a bit far for Page and Monarch to foot it through the snow on Boxing Day this year as it's not till Friday (apologies from me for the cxxx up), and the Rams won't be bringing us any Christmas presents that's for sure..Let's hope our lads go easy on the turkey and plum pud till after Friday (doubtful) when we have to head for Lincoln on the 30th. With more strikes than a hundred-weight of Swan Vestas planned, let's hope for the best for the faithful of both clubs. Ding-dong merrily then and at it.....

If there's one thing we can be sure of, is the McGoldrick will score

I wish we had gone for him in the summer with hindsight! Certainly more useful than Baka to have around.

Just one point separating us from Derby, and we have to play them again in three weeks. We really could do with getting some points as it's all still snakes and ladders.

Biggest apologies, I'm so use to Boxing Day being a feature I didn't check. Sorry all.

Understandable…must be our first Boxing Day without a game for a long time (apart from last year when it was a Covid cancellation!).

Aye, my first Wanderers game was on Boxing Day at Burnden with my dad and uncle. I was ten if I remember so it would have been 1949 (My memory of then was better than now) and we probably lost.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 9:06 pmUnderstandable…must be our first Boxing Day without a game for a long time (apart from last year when it was a Covid cancellation!).

No, we beat West Brom 3-0 on Boxing Day 1949.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:19 pmAye, my first Wanderers game was on Boxing Day at Burnden with my dad and uncle. Cheers Monty. I'd be lying if I said I remember much about it all except the noise and excitement. We went on the 24 bus from Halliwell Road to Trinity Street and walked to Burnden over Orwell Road railway bridge and down Manny Road. . Happy days.Montreal Wanderer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:22 pmNo, we beat West Brom 3-0 on Boxing Day 1949.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:19 pmAye, my first Wanderers game was on Boxing Day at Burnden with my dad and uncle. Yes, contrary to the words of the song, except spiritually ( not the liquid sort)t's not beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. No Boxing Day football, Friday instead of Saturday next game , crippling strikes, sky-high prices and threats from a power hungry, war-mongering Russian hooligan. Merry Christmas Mr Putin.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 10:03 amAye, they do their best to keep us guessing...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 8:09 pmBiggest apologies, I'm so use to Boxing Day being a feature I didn't check. Rule One is "don't concede." A clean sheet guarantees a point and one goal more than Derby means three. A win will be a very nice present for us all.

They all seem like crucial games these days but Tuesdays could be pivotal imo.
Derby have a good manager, one capable of getting the best from a limited squad. Too often this season, Evatt seems to be the reverse of this. Time for him and the players to perform and step up against strong opponents in front of a big crowd.

Same manager who did us comfortably twice last season - it’s a tough game.

I still reckon I'm yet to see an Evatt side be beaten by anyone quite as comfortably as we were by Rotherham at home last season.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Sat Dec 24, 2022 8:59 pmSame manager who did us comfortably twice last season - it’s a tough game.
It'll be interesting to see if Evatt's learned owt..
May the bridges I burn light your way

Quite a good day for those in the top spots on Boxing Day, so we've got work to do tomorrow to keep up the chase.
