My inner editor insists it's "uninterested". "Disinterested" means not having a vested interest, being neutral, like a judge. A referee should be disinterested but hopefully not uninterested.

A common error these days, but "disinterested" to simply mean lacking interest has been entirely proper since the 1800s (used in Dickens, for example). If you check any dictionary on either side of the pond it will provide you with both meanings.

Oh, I'm sure. I'm not one to be too prescriptive. But I love the minor subtleties in our language. That's why I've got shelves full of books about it, and have spent decades in the profession of polishing it. You might call it a vocation.
