Will Lancashire triumph at Happy Valley? Charlton (A), Saturday, 28 January, 12:30pm
Rather fittingly (given my magnificent thread title ), we're on the telly. However, I'll be there in actual real life. We usually do ok at Charlton, so I'm expecting a point.
Starting the thread extraordinary early - and before the FGR game - because it's my first game in almost a year and I'm getting a bit giddy!

Congrats, Tony. Hope it's a belting Bolton win for you. Hope to see you on the tele.

Ordinarily I’d be there: few pints at London Bridge only to be late to the game and we’ve already conceded. Seems that memory isn’t too distant… But I’ll be watching it on Sky, hopefully, with a six week old baby fussing on my chest. Enjoy the game!

I’d normally be there too Tony but ironically enough I’ll be in Bolton, for my mam’s 80th.

Love Charlton away but missing out this year. Probably my favourite away trip out of all in league one. Shame.
However, there is another game before this.....

I'll also be at this one, and am taking five non-Wanderers with me. Up until the start of 2021 I lived under two miles away from The Valley, now it's about five and a half, but still easily the closest professional team to me.
We'd be best advised to focus on FGR tomorrow in the here and now, but Charlton look like they may have turned a corner under former White Dean Holden, so I'm expecting Saturday to be difficult. Incoming transfer news, is, as ever, keenly anticipated.

BOOM! And just like that, Mrs Domingo's throws me a curveball that completely scuppers my plans for Saturday. Gutted doesn't even begin to describe it.

Mate, you need to have a serious discussion with her. Time to lay the law down and do what she saysTonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 9:50 pmBOOM! And just like that, Mrs Domingo's throws me a curveball that completely scuppers my plans for Saturday. Gutted doesn't even begin to describe it.

I forgot this was on TV, so I'm slightly less miffed about the whole covid thing now. Also forgot it was therefore a 12:30 and I'd have to have got up at stupid o'clock - almost a result, were it not for the sick wife.
As Insane says, I enjoy Charlton away and would have got to catch up with footy mates in that there London, but we can at least rest assured of a nice, easy win. It's not like they're coming off 3 wins on the spin against difficult opponents.
0-1 to Bolton.

Whilst we're at it, I might as well confirm I'll also not be there.

The RSVP for this event is going very poorly I must say. Might not even be worth laying on the buffet.nicholaldo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 10:41 pmWhilst we're at it, I might as well confirm I'll also not be there.

I’ll also be there - my first game in person since Peterborough at home in September

I’m also going to cheer you lot on with Burnden Paddock as I’ve not been to Charlton before and like a new London away ground! Obviously hoping it’s up to the quality of football I’ve been watching at The Emirates this season

I'll be there too. Oddly, it's my first ever trip to Charlton. A place I'll always associate with a memory from 1976. My dad hoping we could win a midweek game down there to get promotion if our rivals slipped up. Wanderers won 4-0 (4-0! Away!) but WBAs solitary goal win at Oldham kept us down. It was an early lesson in how life is when you're a Wanderer.

The Valley's a great place. Friendly fans too. In my thirty years in London I think this was my most visited ground.
Not too many disasters from what I can recall.
Reckon we'll win 1-2
